Need a Copy of My University Bachelor

Does anyone know where I might go through proper avenues to get a copy of my degree? I've got the original, but I need the copy and for it to be publicly notarised and an apostille added. Just wondering where I should get this copy from? Do they just mean a photocopy or should I ask my QUT for a new copy and pay ?

Ask if a JP certified true copy is acceptable. You can find free JP services in many places: council, library, shopping centre.

    • It's not this part I'm struggling with, it's the "What constitutes a copy?" i.e. a copy of my bachelor can be two things, a plain copy done by anyone with a scanner and printer or some sort of real copy that looks, feels, exactly like the original.

You're barking up the wrong tree. Essentially what they want is proof that you actually have the original and it's valid. Therefore it makes no difference whether you do it with a scanner+printer, or photocopy machine, or pay an artist to replicate the original with the right kind of paper and replicate the coffee stains etc. The certification on the copy done by the JP or DFAT after sighting the original is what they are after.

        • Excellent! Thank you.

Mindful that you have the original then ordinarily a JP can offer a certified copy which should be okay for use in Australia.

If you need to use it overseas (mindful that you have used the term apostille) then you need to find a service that can offer this - eg DFAT.

I know the process of DFAT, apostille and such. But to which do I put it on? A true to life copy or just a look-alike copy?

      • The certified copy means that it is a photocopy of the degree with an original certification/apostille verifying that it is a photocopy of the original.

  • Even though this relates to Melbourne University, it might be similar.
Have a look anyway - How to obtain the Apostille.

  • My understanding is by law you cannot have more than one of the same testamur. A JP'd copy should work fine.
