the price will be raise up after 3 days later!

    Will it?

Your last deal, states the same thing, yet it's still listed @ US$3.99, the same price!

    • yes, i raised the price up, however, my friends are promoting on other website, so they make it cheaper again, thank you for your kind understanding, have a good day, friend

      • +1

I wonder when you 'raised the price', because it was the same price 2 days ago

        • -2

I wonder when you 'raised the price', because it was the same price 2 days ago(webcache.googleusercontent.com)…

That was a capture at a single point in time, the price may have been different for most of that day so your attempt to discredit the poster is as useless as your "proof".

          @Maverick-au:

And what exactly do you bring to the conversation?

          Nothing?

          Thought so

        • @Spackbace:

And what exactly do you bring to the conversation?

The price speaks for itself, great product at a great price.

      • +1

        They aren't your friends then.

      • Oh look, this Xiaomi Temp sensor is still selling for the same price… So much for another 3 day only offer.

  • +2

Do you also need to buy the Xiaomi hub thing or does this work on its own? Thanks

  • +3

Might be worth noting that the Xiaomi multifunctional gateway is required to use these.

Roughly $54 on your site: http://www.newfrog.com/p/xiaomi-upgrade-smart-home-wifi-remo…

Dropped the price after I posted, lol

  • How does this system work? Would this allow me to temperature control a pedestal fan? I.e. turn it on and off at certain temps?

  • Not sure how this is useful?

    • -1

just give it a try if you have interest, dear friend, have a good day

      • +18

Just give it a try?! Is that your advertising technique…?! Holy crap

    • +2

Yeah this is probably the least useful thing to have attached to the gateway! Other add-ons include wireless door alarms, different switches etc.

This just checks the temperature, that's all!

      • Apartment living can be quite a humid one, as we've found out at my place. By monitoring the humidity, we have been able to prevent mold and damp mornings. We still have the occasional condensation on our windows in the cold winter mornings in rainy weeks, but it is nothing like before. By learning the factors that affect the humidity, it is so much more manageable by leaving windows open, leaving toilet vent fans running for hours, etc. So if you have humidity (or temperature) issues, sensors like this might be for you; otherwise, if your temperature and humidity needs are satisfied, then you're right, they are not too handy at all.

        • I agree, but even in your situation, you'd likely find better uses of the gateway

Have a look here and what it can do. Things like movement sensors and stuff like that, for home security, would likely be the best use of the tech (at least in my opinion). You'd likely get the humidity/temp sensor as an add-on to these others

        • Yea, I'm still not convinced. My body can also sense the extremes of humidity and temperature. I still don't think this is useful.

        • @ronnknee: Pretty sure you haven't seen my apartment complex. In winter mornings, every single unit has condensation on the windows. Ours did too, until I got two humidity sensors and monitored them relentlessly while figuring out all the tricks. Basically, 95% of people living in our complex (30+ units) are unable to do it, as evidenced by the morning condensation.

At the end of the day, our multistory brick apartment building has terrible 70's era ventilation. Unless you live in a similar location, like I said before, it's probably not useful.

Aside: Tips for reducing humidity. Open the windows when it's humid inside and it's less humid outside. Don't use gas for cooking. Use ventilation fans to get moisture outside, especially for showers, run them for at least 20+ minutes after showers are over, but also for washing/drying laundry and cooking water. Run an AC or a dehumidifier when none of these other tips work.

  • You've really got to hand it to Xiaomi.
They want a global weather monitoring system so they sell us the infrastructure, (monitoring units and gateways) we set it up and then they collect the data while we pay for power.
In the olden days we used a thermometer. It really is just as easy to look at a thermometer as it is to look at your phone.
And as far as remote monitoring is concerned… If I'm not there… I don't care!

      A thermometer…

We used to dream about having a thermometer.

We had a piece of string, if it was wet it was raining, if it was dry it weren't. lol

      • +6

A piece of string, ha! I wish we had a piece of string.
When I was young we used to send the youngest one of us outdoor and checked his clothes afterwards.

        • +7

We used to keep a budgie in a shoebox in the middle of the road. If the box was wet it was raining, if the budgie died then it was really hot and if the budgie was flat then it was peak hour.

          @crunchyhead:

          Sheer luxury!

        • @crunchyhead:

Budgie? You had a Budgie? LUXURY!

When I were a lad we were so poor we 'ad to take it in turns to curl up in the shoebox and call out the latest weather every hour while trying to avoid the traffic based purely on the tyre noise.

All these smart home gadgets (or IoT devices) start to work together and you can end up with a cool system. You integrate them with a service like IFTTT (if this then that), then create rules like when the temperature reaches a point turn on a desk fan but only when you're home. People have come up with very clever systems, all using devices from different manufacturers like the one above. And you can also add a voice command module like the Amazon Echo, so you could program it to speak when a room gets too hot or cold, or just say "Alexa what's the temperature in the lounge room" and it'll just tell you. So instead of seeing it as a complicated thermometer, think of it as one part of an open ended system.

  • Hi…

A little help please understanding this item.

I understand this will be connected via Wifi somehow and I can see the conditions on the go.

So this will require the use of Xiaomi's app called MiHome I think?

And also what is meant by this note? "Note : This item must match the Xiaomi multifunctional gateway to use. "

I am in the market for a Thermometer and a Hygrometer and this is cheaper than an old school one.

Edit : I took a long time to type this and it has been answered in the posts above….shame you need to buy the additional gateway. Back to old school hygrometer then.

  • Is the app available in english?

    • -1

    • -1

        • yes, you can choose any language that you like, but the app will display half of the stuff in chinese

  • Hey reps, how about the hub and sensor deal?

    • +5

this he cannot do. unless his friend does it too, then he will do, have a good day, friend

  • Hi Rep,

Bought this deal then found out it need the hub to make it works, I have sent email to request the refund. thanks
    JL

    • -2

ok, it doesn't matter, have a good day

  • Banggood had a sale on these a few weeks ago, finally received them yesterday…

You do need the hub, which is a pain to setup with the android app, spent about an hour before trying the iPhone app on an iPad and was up and running in five minutes… the hub has a speaker built in, and has a cool internet radio feature, but appears to only be Chinese stations :(

Once setup the android app works well, but it's only half English, the main menu is mostly English, with help and some of the sub menus still Chinese, which is disappointing.

The temperature sensors themselves are small and pretty simple (and easy to setup once you have the hub up and running), the app appears to track tends, and will tell you what the current temp and humidity is, would be nice to collect this data locally rather then in the Chinese cloud thou.

  • Thanks! Bought the base station and two temperature sensors to help monitor the house temperature for our baby. Hard to know if it's too hot or cold for him so at least this way we've got a means of tracking it. Also used the coupon code NFHOME8 for an additional discount.

    • thank you, dear friend, hope you like it, have a good day, beat wishes to you baby

      • Hi store rep I want to buy some more sensors. Any more discount? Thanks!

        • hello, if you like them, i will change the price cheaper, could you please tell how many do you want?

        • or you can give me you contact, i can tell you how to do it, have a good day

  • they changed the price for the gateway. there is no point to buy a gateway from this website anymore. it is selling at RMB150 at Tmall. need to order on tmall and ask a Chinese friend to bring over to me.
