[iOS] Acidik - Wearable Audio Visualizer. Free Download + (Disable Ads IAP, was $2.99 Now FREE)

50

If you haven't already tried out my app "Acidik - Wearable Audio Visualizer" in the dark then I'm giving users the chance to grab the app and disable the ads for FREE.

Acidik is designed to be worn/balanced across your eyes whilst laying in a very dark room (at night ideally). You can use it with your eyes closed or open for two very different visual effects. Headphones and iPhone 5 or better recommended however it will also work with iPhone 4. The larger screen phones provide a more immersive experience and the better black levels of the newer phones help as well. No VR headset required.

It works with your locally stored song files (not cloud or streaming audio sorry). However, it also features a live microphone mode so it can react to a Pandora/Spotify stream if you are sending the stream to an external speaker via a secondary device (bit of a confusing workaround but let me know if it doesnt make sense.).

The live mic mode is so sensitive that it can even react to your breathing and is useful for meditation. It's a bit like watching fireflies that react as you breathe in and out. Here's a video example of how that looks in action. https://youtu.be/ic0P9iYL6kQ

You can get a better idea of how Acidik works via the promo video below.

As always, very open to feedback and hope you all enjoy the freebie.

Note: Not recommended for users with photosensitive conditions such as Epilepsy.

  • Is it safe? Thinking of phone radiation

    • +1

It's a valid question that I get from time to time but if you are someone who usually uses a phone away from your ear in speaker mode then to set your mind at ease you may wish to set the phone to flight mode when using Acidik which should disable the radio. The reality is that there should be less radiation than using your phone during a call anyway as the phone radio wont be in the higher output transmit mode.

      • Thanks for replying. Good answer

      What do you mean?

Do you think phone radiation gives you cancer?
It's just Radio waves, they do not interact with DNA, you're completely safe in that regard.

      • Proof?

        • Use Google or alternatively: learn a little bit about the electromagnetic spectrum sometime.

          Here's a source:
          Use this one:

          http://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/causes-prevention/risk/ra…

          Or this one:

          http://www.cancer.org/cancer/cancercauses/radiationexposurea…

"Radiofrequency (RF) radiation, which includes radio waves and microwaves, is at the low-energy end of the electromagnetic spectrum. It is a type of non-ionizing radiation. Non-ionizing radiation has enough energy to move atoms in a molecule around or cause them to vibrate, but not enough to ionize (remove charged particles such as electrons). RF radiation has lower energy than some other types of non-ionizing radiation, like visible light and infrared, but it has higher energy than extremely low-frequency (ELF) radiation."

But don't take my word for it: actually look at the scientific documentation yourself

        • @flerple:

But you wouldn't want to stand directly in front of a radar or high output radio antenna for any length of time as you may start feeling a little toasty inside.

        • @flerple: so you still cannot link to proof that it is safe in humans.

        • @flerple:
Actually if you fully read that cancer.org page they are basically saying that the jury is still out on a cancer link with regards to RF radiation under certain circumstances.

        • I should probably clarify:

          It's non-ionising Radiation.
It's not able to directly damage DNA, the waves are too big. You need to worry about EM Waves that are about the same size as DNA (i.e. UV), they can directly damage DNA and cause cancer.

We are actually constantly surrounded by radio waves at all times, they are perfectly safe to be around (as far as the scientific consensus).

I shouldn't say they absolutely don't cause cancer, however the scientific consensus seems to point out that it's not likely given the research.

Here are some science threads you can use to educate yourselves:

        • @flerple:
I'd wager you wouldn't be leaving your 4G hotspot modem in the crib next to your newborn on a free data weekend while you upload a couple of hundred gig to the cloud.
Why? Because it's not proven to be safe.

        • Of course I would, had I either of those things.

From everything I've read regarding this: it's not dangerous to humans.

Wifi and radio waves are non-ionising, the waves cannot interact with DNA, they are too large.

We are constantly penetrated at all times by radio waves just from being in the vicinity of modems, wifi, cell phones, etc.
So why are you not worried about that?

        • @flerple:
We can agree to disagree on what constitutes proof or even scientific consensus.
