I had a 4 year Microsoft Office 365 University subscription that gave me 4 years of Office 365 for $99.
I was happy enough with that as I can't get the Home Use Program.
However then I found I needed 4 PC's worth of Office 365 installs, and Microsoft were vigilant about not letting me have more than 2 installs with the University subscription.
I tried to purchase another Office University subscription, but I received an error message saying something like I could not purchase multiple Office 365 University subscriptions and I had to buy another product.
In frustration I purchased a 1 year Office 365 Home subscription from Futu Online in the 20% off EBAY sale. It cost me something like $87.60.
When I activated that on the same email as my Office 365 University subscription it ended up somehow merging my Home and University subscriptions into a single 5 year (less what was already used) Home subscription. So now I have a just less than 5 year Office 365 Home subscription.
That means I have 5 PC's worth of Office 365 for 5 years, instead of what I thought would be 2 PC's x 4 years plus 5 PC's x 1 year.
Putting it another way, I thought I would have 13 years of subscriptions (8 + 5 years) spread across 7 PCs.
Instead I have ended up with 25 years of subscriptions (5 x 5 years) spread across 5 PCs.
I think I am ahead, but I have lost access to 2 PC's - but I have gained 4 extra years for 3 PC's.
Has anyone come across this before?
I've heard of people doing things deliberately similar.
As on buying multiple years of Personal (1 pc version) and then upgrading to a single year of Home to get a long term expiry for the Home subscription.
