Not sure but it looks like you need to put four large pavers/bricks on the base. But that's the same with the outdoor umbrellas from Ikea or other stores. The heavier paver you use the better I guess. I'd say it's designed to be left outside 24/7 and you just fold it using the winding mechanism.
