Hey, I have the capability of buying a ~1500 laptop. I want it to have a SSD and graphics card (4gb or more VRAM i guess). Is it worth buying a 4gb 960m laptop now or wait for the pascal laptops to come out?
If so does anyone know when they might come out and what the prices might be like.
The only other good option I've seen is customising a metabox unless you guys know something better at the moment.

You might want to consider the build quality (as in other brands are better than Inspiron) but you'll have some change left.
15 years ago I use to ask that same question.
Now I just don't care anymore. If the new products don't come out in a month from now, then just buy now.
WAIT, today is the worst possible moment to buy a ~1500 laptop. We're at the very tail end of the current CPU and GPU technologies. Pascal and Polaris (GPUs) and Kaby Lake (CPU) are significant technological changes. Efficiency and processing power gains are big. This is a jump, not a small, incremental change or a few tweaks here and there.
This technology develops in steps: it improves for a few years in linear way, and then jumps to the next level. This jump is just about to happen. Wait a bit, do not be impatient, a year from now you will be delighted that you controlled your urge to buy now.
Do not fall for an uninformed argument: "who cares, there is always something new coming if you wait". This is not just "something new", this is a significant jump to the next level. Try to understand the process and try to understand in which point we are at the moment. But… do not trust me, do not trust other posters, Google is your friend; there is already sufficient amount of preliminary info to help you decide. It is your money.
And when the next level arrives… buy the old level at a bargain price!
That's what I've been thinking, especially with how good the nvidia 1060 - 1080s are apparently. A lot of things are saying the laptops with them will be insane so i was considering waiting to see how long until they release
Realistically, it is only a few month, my guess: definitely before Christmas. Yes, unless you really have to buy today, wait a bit, be patient.
so how much of a jump are we talking? Is it a hdd to ssd leap or more like a pci to pcie jump…
