It's a 7 channel amp. 5.1.2 speakers for this one.
Only $45 less than Digital Cinema and Denis White A2V.

Yep, But $45 in your pocket rather than someone elses!
Seems about $50 cheaper than VideoPro and HarveyNorman, with free shipping.

Anyone have any comments on this level Denon vs similar price Yamaha ? Such as RX-V581.
http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=yamaha+atmos&sp…
I went from Yamaha to Denon - VERY happy with the change.
Does 4k pass through support HDR? Thanks
yes as per the Denon website:
In addition to handling 4K Ultra HD 3840x2160 resolution, the AVR-X1200W also features HDR (High Dynamic Range) and Wide Color Gamut compatibility, key components of the BT.2020 4K Ultra HD video specification.
Nice. I wondered if it was something else we need to watch out for when buying an AV Receiver
The HDMI spec is 2.0a. So Yep. Support for HDR is built in!
Any chance of packaging this with a set of speakers for as close to $1000 as possible?
If you are spending 3/4 the budget on the receiver you're doing it the wrong way around.
$750 on an Amp and $250 on speakers? I think you're doing it wrong! :>
The pain when I have multiple 4k receivers without hdcp 2.2. Would the Xbox One S display at all?
From Denon's Site…. (TL;DR - It's HDCP2.2 Compliant)
"Equipped with 6 HDMI inputs, including 1 conveniently located on the front panel, the AVR-X1200W features an advanced video section that features the latest HDMI specifications, including support for 4K Ultra HD 60 Hz full rate video, 4:4:4 Pure Color sub-sampling and 21:9 video pass-through, along with support for 3D content.
The AVR-X1200W also features HDCP 2.2 compatibility, a requirement for 4K Ultra HD copy-protected content."
One of my receivers is it's predecessor. I believe one of the others is the next up predecessor too. Also have a slim Marantz with the same problem too :(
Time for a (bargain) upgrade!
Is this the AVR-X1200W or the AVR-X1200B? The text on your page describes the AVR-X1200B but the photos are of the AVR-X1200W.
Fixed. It's the 1200W
Thanks! I've ordered (ID 099745) however everything still says AVR-X1200B on your website, I don't want to be annoying but I also don't want to have issues if I need to claim on warranty and the receipt has the wrong model number.
The receipt will represent the correct product which is the AVR-X1200W.
Thank you for your order!
@AudioTrends: Awesome, thanks :)
What is the difference between 1200B and 1200W ?
There is no 1200B.
THD is 0.08%, but doesn't say at which wattage. It's not extremely low if at nominal output.
The description of THD has me baffled though:
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) is the amplifier's ability to minimise adding extra noise to the signal. The higher the number, the cleaner the sound.
Seriously? Higher THD is better?!!
Lol definitely not.
Atmos and DTS-X?
The DTS-X update is still yet to be released for this model. It's a bit annoying as you currently can't use Dolby surround mode on anything with a DTS soundtrack whereas some other atmos enabled receivers have no problem doing this. Apparently the DTS-X update will fix this but who knows when it will actually be available.
Good price for local stock.
I am not 100% sure if these are the same model (as the numbers are slightly different)
But shipped from Amazon.it for $674 (458.64EUR). https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B010EB3RZY
Or even cheaper from Amazon.de for $604 (411,12 EUR) https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B010EB3RZY
Wow … considering they charge a lot of shipping and the AUD is weak. (You also would need an Australian power cable and there will be no Australian warranty.)
EUR vs USD has dropped due to Brexit. And you don't have to pay tax. But yes good price. I have camelcamelcamel set up to monitor this.
So is camelcamelcamel telling you to buy a new home cinema amplifier?
Yes … it does sometimes. When you want that item it goes to a bargain level price camelcamelcamel can help you finding out the best price. Not for people who want things now! But I am waiting to upgrade my Home Receiver now for 2 years …
And wow … it just happened! For the next 16h … it's the Amazon Prime Deal! The price dropped by an additional 66EUR (so should end up around $525 delivered). https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B010EB3RZY
@mini_wombat: No Warranty, No Support in Au! Support your local retailers!
@AudioTrends: I agree … no Australian warranty and support … I mentioned that (and that it is a good price for local stock). I am happy to support local retailers. I am even happy to pay more … around 20%: ((10% (for GST) + 10% (to be nice and for warranty)) … but when it is over 20% … mhhh … Amazon is also pretty good with international warranty.
But we are talking over 40% difference here !!! Why is the mark up in Australia for receivers so high? Where do you suggest to draw the line? 25% 30% 40% 50% ? It's personal choice … for me it is between 15-20%.
@mini_wombat: I'm trying to get it but its the same cost as NON PRIME members.
Non Prime members get VAT removed making it the same price ($2 more)
So I cant see VAT getting removed for the Prime Deal. It remains at EUR 333.
It appears that the lightening deal price of 333 IS NOT applied for Prime members outside DE.
Try it yourself?
@sk280: Oh no … :-( I didn't try it myself … as I do not have a Prime Membership … just saw the price. But it's surprising that they don't remove the VAT (as they don't need to pay it). Would have been a great deal …
@mini_wombat: :-( Unfortunate. I've been eyeing this receiver for so long in amazon.de. Finally spotted it today, signed up to PRIME and BAM — NO VAT removal. When you add to cart, price jumps to 399 EUR (estimate VAT confirms this). I was hoping it'd be removed when you checkout and I proceeded to the last screen but NO, price stays at EUR 402 or 602 AUD (paid in EUR using 28 degrees).
I'm so tempted to buy it at 602 AUD but considering NO warranty, am worried about DOA as its a huge gamble if its DOA and I'd have to ship it back. Unlikely I know but still. Damn, why does everything local in OZ have to be soooo expensive…
@sk280: Yep … I tried it myself now and it didn't work. I wrote a little message to Amazon to see if this applies to all prime deals. (I could not find anything in the T&Cs).
Hehe … ah well … that always a risk. $750 is a ok price for local stock. But it's always hard to purchase when you know it could be cheaper.
I agree that some things in OZ are too expensive … Receivers are one of them (they should even be cheaper … as we are closer to Japan/China and have less GST!).
By the way: Don't forget to cancel your Prime Membership otherwise they charge you 49 EUR
My 2 mains are Orpheus Aurora 3 speakers and are 4ohm. Will this be able to power them without overheating? I checked the specs on Denon's site and don't quite get the "70% guarantee" bit.
EDit: Just checked back of speakers and states Recommended AMP 45-125W RMS
My current Denon AVR-3300 easily handled them, but it was a flagship in its time. However it's on its way out and I'm looking at options for a replacement.

The 3300 was a bigger, more powerful amp. For an equivalent amp you should be looking at the AVR-X4200. It's going to be more suited to the Orpheus.
(Nice Speakers by the way!)
Hi OP. I noticed on your page for the X2200 that you mention speaker choice is very important - giving the impression the X2200 may not be powerful enough to drive some 5.1 or 7.1 speaker setups. The X1200 is less powerful so I assume the same considerations apply ??
My front speakers are B&W DM603 S2's (25w to 150w power handling at 8ohm)
http://www.bowers-wilkins.com/downloads/product/archive/eng_…
My center is B&W CC6 S2 (25w to 120w power handling at 8ohm)
http://www.bowers-wilkins.com/Downloads/Product/Archive/ENG_…
Plus bookshelf rears and a single 10" sub. Id add some upfiring speakers for ATMOS.
How will the X1200 go driving these speakers ? Its a bit less powerful than my current Yamaha RX-V773.
It's probably not going to be powerful enough for the DM603s. While the 1200 is a capable amp, you would want something with a little more power. The x4200 is ideal, but in another price bracket.
If you're in Melbourne, you can bring your speakers into the showroom for a listen!
I've inherited a pair of Victor sx-500 spirit speakers, which says its max input power is 180W, rated impedance 6 ohms.
Will this receiver work with the speakers? Will it be overkill for these speaker or will it be powerful enough to drive the speakers? I don't have much clue with speakers and have only done some limited research on setup's etc. Currently i'm looking to do a simple setup before moving on to 5.1 and perhaps eventually a 7.1, so looking for something that would work with these speakers with room to upgrade in the future.
And is the deal still on?
Thanks.
Sweet. I noticed it has ATMOS on the screen.
Is it possible to buy 5.1.2 or 5.1.4 speakers separately for this?
