What would you rate it? I haven't seen it.

      • +2

Average. As someone that doesn't really get into comic book films though, I'd say there's been Marval films I've enjoyed less. I don't think it's the worst film ever like some claim, but it's not particularly good either.

It has nothing on Nolans films either.

        Rated R..for Retarded.

      • It was meh.

        • I was hoping for /u/furythree's opinion

          @Putnum: It has issues

But if you watch the ultimate edition which i think this bluray is. It will be less sucky

          main things are:

          1) the characters are not what you traditionally know them as. which is refreshing, but some ppl just cant get over it
          2) look forward to the action scenes. theyre great
          3) pay real close attention to the dialogue, because the movie moves fast because they had to cram alot in so youll need to infer whats going on based on the dialogue.

Again, as long as you watch the ultimate edition the pacing is ALOT better and the story is recut with additional scenes to make it flow wonderfully

I had to watch it 4 times to catch everything.

          4) Batman is different, but if you pay attention to all the scenes with alfred, he heavily implies why and that he has not always been acting this way. So dont expect that "this is the new batman and i hate this movie now hurr durr. bring back nolan's tacticool batman". Just know that this batman has been wearing the cowl for 20 years and is tired of this Sh1T. But it is implied he was the comic book batman up until this point and he will return to normal slowly in the sequels (not really a spoiler dont worry)

          5) this movie was originally intended as a man of steel 2. So expect it to close out the growth and maturity of the superman character to finally become the superman we know. But do not expect brandon routh superman obviously

This whole movie is a modern, gritty and dark take on the franchise. its adapted from about 3 various batman and superman stories. namely dark knight returns, but its very different to dark knight returns. So an original adaption basically. And its quite refreshing

People have issues with the sheer volume of content they had to stuff in it, which ruins it a bit, but not a deal breaker. The action is fantastic. Lex luthor sucks. it wasnt jessie eisenberg's fault. the character just wasnt fleshed out well and was poorly written.

However what i liked more about this movie than even the action scenes was that you can break this down perfectly into a year 12 HSC essay on journeys/change. The movie's first act has perfect parallels to what happens in the last act which references dialogue and scenes from it. You get to see visible character growth that is clearly contrasted from start to end. Alfred's dialogue is all fancy and cryptic, but are some of the best written lines in a batman movie since "hero that gotham deserves yadda yadda"

all in all cinematic release: 6/10
          Ultimate cut 8-8.5/10 easily

You'll enjoy it if you dont go in expecting a cinematic masterpiece akin to the godfather or something. Its a comic book movie for christs sake

cant wait for justice league and standalone batfleck

        • @furythree: thanks 😁

Ultimate edition is better than theatrical and make more sense

    • +1

Agree for extra 30 minutes, fills alot of plot holes

  • would it be possible to buy, claim & return the bluray?

  • Can't be the only one that thinks suicide squad will suck as much as Batman vs Superman

    • Elaborate.

    • I think that it will be better than Batman vs Superman, DC appears to be taking a leaf from Marvel's book in terms of humour.

    • Different creative team. So no Sydner means it might be good.

    • cant be the only one that doesnt judge movies before they even come out

  • +2

Careful which version you buy… e.g. 4K version has the extended cut on the 4K disc, and only the theatrical on the Blu-Ray

  • Which is the version that comes with the 144 page graphic novel Batman vs Superman: The Greatest Battles?

  • Isn't this offer valid till the 15th of August, not only today?

Edit: Never mind, I didn't realise it was part of a DVD/Blu-Ray sale which ends today, my bad

  • But BVS is sooo good as a comedy … Spolier Guess who use a toliet sink as a weapon of choice when facing Superman??

  • So what I have been struggling with after receiving this E-Mail 2 days ago is the fact that they nominate 6 versions of the film.

According to the E-Mail the most concerning thing for me is they say that the "R" rated version is only on the 4K Ultimate Cut.
    The remaining releases are either:

    Theatrical
    3D
Extended (30 min bonus features but not R Rated)

    can anyone confirm?

If I purchase I want the R rated version.

    • +3

The extended is the R rated cut. But this was an American R rating by the way. Here both cuts are rated M. The extra 30mins is available on Bluray and 4K but not DVD or 3D. Any box that says ULTIMATE EDITION or CUT on the cover is the one you seek.

      • Thanks, thats what I thought until the E-Mail from JB called the 4K one "R" rated and the other ones extended and "M".

This is a great deal if you don't use Telstra Thanks or Optus Rewards for movie tickets you're virtually getting the movie for $2-$11!!

      • 3D is Ultimate edition too. It seems like the only version which isn't is the DVD.

        • Doesn't it say on the box that the 3D is theatrical and the Bluray is Ultimate? So you still get the ultimate in the 3D pack but it's not in 3D?

        • @savebueller: It says 'Ultimate Edition' on the picture - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/movies-tv-shows/movies-tv-shows-on…

But that being said the run time appears to be 151mins so perhaps the image is wrong.

@SirFlibbled: yeah the text down the bottom right explains it haha
