Can't Decide on a Set of Bluetooth Wireless Headphones?

Hi there!

I'm looking to buy a set of wireless headphones for multiple uses mainly being listening to music and TV series from my Mac and IPhone.

I originally was looking at the Beats Studio Wireless but I'm now hesitant after reading some slamming reviews. My current winner is the Bose CQ 35 wireless but again I'm unsure as some reviews state that the sound quality is mediocre but has amazing noise cancelling which is a really great feature I would like. I just don't want this at the cost of bad sounding audio.

Any advice on which one of these I should go or even any other suggestions that I haven't looked into yet would be greatly appeciated!

Thanks!

I have a set of Bose QC20's and can say the noise cancellation tech is simply just magic. As most reviewers would point out, Bose is the gold standard when it comes to noise cancellation and I think I can agree. However when it comes to sound quality, you can buy better sounding cans for the same price although you won't get Bose's quality noise cancellation technology.

I'm not fussed about audio quality mainly because 1) my music is streamed from the internet and is capped at 192kbps, meaning that all that high-end audiophile equipment that I use will be wasted as I would be able to hear the imperfections of low-bitrate files and second) my hearing isn't all that good anyway…but the noise cancellation feature is mainly the reason I got the Bose.

i have qc15 and they are awesome, If buying overhead then cant go past the qc35.
Also very comfortable, if not the most comfortable headphones you will ever wear.
    Well worth the investment.

If for sport, then Jaybirds Bluebuds X work great and can pick up a good deal on amazon.

What's your budget? I've heard good things about the Jabra Move but family who has them says they do ache after 3 or 4 hours.

    • Circa $500 at the moment I don't think I want to be spending much more than that at the moment.

if cant decide why not try first? gee….
go to apple store get all you want, pay them of course go back home open and try them. within 2 weeks return them - you get full refund no questions asked.
i said APPLE STORE, not jbhifi or other retailers.

    • Bargain, at the Apple store?

    • Very true I forgot all about the Apple returns policy! But if I do like them I'll end up still returning them to Apple and buying them at a much better price.

      • Smart guy… Yes don't buy from them but from other at not so ripped off fan Boi price.

At the moment I'm still contemplating between the Plantronics backbeat pro, the QC25s or the beats studio wireless

    • QC25's aren't wireless.

Can I jump in and ask if anyone has any recommendations for cheap but good wireless on ear headphones? Was hoping to get something half decent for under $100 but am I dreaming?

I've got the 35's. Best headphones I've had. I think Bose do a trial if you want to try them out.

Get the Sony MDR-1Abt or MDR-100ABN h.ear. They are the opposite of the Bose, sound quality first with active noise cancelling second.

    • I tried the MDR100ABN's (finding a place to do so is quite challenging) and while sounded a little better, it would distort somewhat which I found odd given the pricetag.

      • That's unfortunate, but also odd given I did not detect distortions nor have impressions/reviews online being on the upper positive side. Make sure you did not try it with the cable, only in bluetooth mode and powered on.

        Also try the the MDR-1ABT

I've been debating over some wireless earphones for a while but I'm not all that happy with the options available at the moment. My semi-solution will be to buy a bluetooth receiver with a 3.5mm jack, like the Sony SBH-50 and pair with whatever ear/headphones I end up deciding on. Probably not what you're after, but I figured I'd throw the suggestion out.

QC35 though not sounding the best are far from some reviews that say they are terrible. Yes they are not that great when it comes to sound and plenty can beat it. However what it excels in is active noise cancelation and comfortability. I find because the noise cancelling is so good i can listen to my music at much lower volume than my other on ear headphone.

Two things you would appreciate even on daily commute by train or bus. Even moreso on plane trips since you can wear these for hours on end and not feel fatigued as easily as other headphones due to being so light.

  • Wait to see what the consensus is on the Senheisser PXC550's reviews should start coming out soon…though they are going to be RRP of $629
