Olympus E-M10 Mk II Deal Last Jan - Nothing Has Come Close Since.

I missed getting the E-M10 Mk ii (body) for $550 from GerryGibbs in Jan, and half a year later nothing has come close. Best I can find is $659 here

Does anyone know if Olympus camera deals run to certain cycles? Like maybe there will be nothing now until Christmas shopping deals start? I know Olympus had cash back deals late last year on some of their goods.

  • Good question. I've been keeping an eye out but so far nothing like the deal in Dec/Jan. On a gloating note, I managed to snag an em10ii back then during that deal and absolutely loving it! Perfect accompaniment to my 6D when i can't be bothered living around a massive DSLR.

I'd say the best bet is late year sales like last year. I know that there were some great prices on Pro lenses around the same period as well

  • Yeah, the deal expired a day or so before CES and I was waiting to see if anything new announced first.

I do have a Mk1 and love it like you do. Want to get two bodies so my daughter can use the old one.

  • I think $659 is about the right price for the E-M10 Mark II, it's a great camera at that price. The earlier special for $550 is a really good price, however.

In the past, around Christmas, Olympus tend to have some pretty decent deals, such as cashback promotions or getting a bonus lens, that sort of thing.

If you're happy buying grey market, then you can get it for around $580, which I think is an excellent deal. Try eGlobal (http://www.eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au/olympus-e-m10-mark-i…).

I'm a professional photographer and almost all of my gear is from the grey market, Australians really get ripped off when it comes to technology. With camera bodies, they rarely break, so getting them grey is fine. For design faults, manufacturers will usually service both local and grey cameras. This happened with my Nikon D600 a few years back with the oily shutter issue. I got my grey market one fixed by Nikon Australia. It's only warranty claims that you will potentially have issues with.

    • Well you say that… but all of the camera bodies that I've gotten have developed an issue within a year and needed to be sent in. I actually only recently got my EM10ii back from warranty repair after the shutter got stuck closed randomly one day and refused to budge.

      • Depends on what you get - something like an E-M10, then yeah maybe. Something like a Canon 1DX or 5D Mark III, not that likely. Depends how adept you are at fixing your own problems and how well you know local repair shops like Camera Clinic.
