      $1699 for i5, $2124 for i7 with QHD+ screen.

The only time you can expect better prices than this is if Dell does their own special at the same time ebay does a 20% off. But fat chance of that. Dell knows when it will happen, and will revert their pricing to full RRP when the 20% off ebay promos happen. I waited over a year for the opportunity but it never came.

The other option is to check the Outlet every day and hope you find the one you're after for cheaper than the normal promos.

      • Yeah looks like its tough trying to get a good discount. These prices are OK but maybe not even as good as when the ebay 20% off was offered in the DELL ebay shop when you factor in the cost of upgrades to match the top of the line model for example.

I bought the top of the line XPS 15 for about $3K using the ebay 20%. Ended up returning it as I wasn't totally happy with it - a single dead pixel in the top left of the screen and the space bar was not completely flat like the other keys (had a slope from back to front slightly). As far as performance goes it was amazing though. That 1TB Toshiba NVMe SSD is great. The screen blows everything out of the water that I have seen as well. I'm planning on buying one in the future and trying again for a good one :-)

        • The ebay 20% off discounts are usually capped at $300 per transaction, though sometimes it's different. Sometimes it's $200 or even $100.

This is a $375 discount off RRP, so it's about as good as you can expect outside of the Dell Outlet. I think the laptop is a bit expensive at over 2k though.

I wish you could customize the built in software to remove McAfee and 3 month trial Office.

      fresh install is your friend

      • Laptops work a bit differently. The key for the Windows install is an OEM key tied to the hardware. They don't give you a windows disc. To reinstall, you go through Recovery, which will put McAfee and Office back onto it. Their installation is a specialized installation that contains the hardware's specific drivers and software and the Dell logo.

If you just insert a Windows CD/USB, you wouldn't be able to use the existing key. It will work if you have a key to spare, but you'll lose all the Dell specific drivers and software (which some would consider a positive thing), and the OEM logo. It won't look like a "legit" laptop if that matters to you.

All I want removed is the bloatware.

    • Ummm, cant you just uninstall via control panel?

      • You can. But I prefer if it wasn't there to begin with. There's usually stuff that doesn't get removed properly.

  • Microsoft Store AU is selling the i5 128gb version for $1899 however admittedly with less bloatware in their Signature Edition - nothing a quick fresh install will fix. Before this deal went live on the Dell site their i5 128gb was going for $1999. The 256gb version was couple hundred more and the MS Signature Ed of this deal is actually going for $2299 right now so actually do save quite a good amount.
