Does Anyone Know How This Works ? Bosch Motion Detector

Hi All

I am renting an apartment and have this motion detector which has a mind of its own. I don't know the code and was never given any instructions/manual on how to operate this.

two days ago it started beeping every 2-3 mins so I randomly started playing with the buttons on the this wall panel and now I have somehow made it worse. It is turned on now .lol and beeps everytime it detects motion.

Does anyone has any experience with this and how to turn it back off
? I read some instruction manuals on the internet but I wasnt sure what the model of my unit is and whether this is applicable. I ve read the master code is usually 2580 and 1234. I am following instructions that i found on internet but it doesnt seem to turn off.

Any help would be appreciated,

Instruction manaul ( I am following) : not sure if this applied to my unit as i cant find the model number anywhere on my unit.

Many Thanks

p.s: sorry for the filth buttons. never knew it was that dirty until i saw this in the sun :d

Let me guess, the passcode is made up of 1,8 and 0? If you know how many digits, there can't be that many combinations. Lol.

    • lol, As I said the realestate agent did not provide any info on this , and what i have read on the internet it seems like it is usually 4 digits long. I guess what I am trying to ask is if anybody knows how to turn it off.I know nobody can guess the code but if i knew the right instruction i could probably try them using the default or master code :)

      • I doubt it will have a default code or master code. Otherwise it won't be secure, unless you know how to pull out the controller and reset it.

Even if you did find the setting to do what you want, I guess you will probably need to enter the pin to change the setting? Assuming that I am correct that the pin is made up of 1,8 and 0, there are only 18 possible pin combinations. It wouldn't take you more than 1 hour to try all of them.

        • nope no idea how to pull out the controller, i tried to see if there were any screws but found none.
can i ask what is the basis of your assumption that the pin is made up of 1,8 and 0 ?

Whatever it is i think i had accidently put it in to turn it on because it didnt have that "ON" symbol before . lol

Ill check with the realestate agents too to see if they know the code .

        • @Frankenbeanie: Oh.. I thought you knew how I got my guess. It was that those 3 numbers is a lot more "used", shall we say, based on your photo. Similar condition to the other most used buttons, which are "stay" and "away" buttons.

        • @geek001: oh now i get you . thats pretty smart :). Why didnt i think of this .lol .
I think to turn it off it should just be 'pin + stay'

thanks for the help with this . i will give it a go tonight.

        • @Frankenbeanie: Lol. Yea.. too many episodes of crime dramas I guess.

"Pin + stay" is how my alarm work. So I guess it should be the same for your alarm. And to turn it on, it is "pin + away" for mine.

By the way, the beeping could mean that the backup battery is low and need to be replaced, kinda like smoke detectors. Alarm systems usually has a backup battery in case of power outages.

        • previously i think it was beeping just because it had low battery and then i decided to muck it up and now it is beeping everytime there is a motion detected. lol.

        • @Frankenbeanie: Alarms are usually mains powered. But it has a backup battery in case of power outages, so if the battery is kaput, it would beep indefinitely until you replace the battery. I guess as a tenant, it is not your job to sort out the alarm. If I were you, I would probably try the cardboard method if I don't really about the alarm.

        • @geek001:

yeah your are right , not my job at all, but my realestate and landlord are rather lazy , i requested repairs (different problem) about three months ago and havent heard from them .lol. so i thought ill see if there is a quick fix that i can apply myself otherwise I am cardboarding it.

I dont know this system is meant to be standalone or if its linked back to anywhere because nobody showed up asking questions or checking why is your system beeping(could be an intruder too ).lol. so i think best would be to cardboard cover it because it provides no protection anyway.

  • Get cardboard and cover up the pir

    • haha , i thought of this too. if i cant work it out today i will definately cardboard it .lol .

  • The pic looks like a "Bosch Solution 862" try running a system diagnosis, hold down 5 until you here two beeps and one of the zones will flash. The master code should be 1948.

    • I did the fault analysis the other day and i have zone 1 , 2 , exclamation mark and 'on' symbol all flashing on me .lol

its actually 'Solution 844'. I was able to get the instruction manual from the RealEstate agent today but she doesnt know the pin.

the manual says default pin is 2580.

Below is fault descriptions from the manual. I have 1 flashing on the panel which i think means that the system has a faulty battery. Flashing 2 probably means I need to set a date/time.

I am going to give it a go today to see if i can turn it off. lol ,

      11.3 Fault Descriptions
      Table 9: Fault Condition Indicators
      Zone LED FAULT Condition
      1 Battery Fail
      2 Date/Time
      3 Sensor Watch
      4 Horn Speaker Fail
      5 Telephone Line Fail
      6 E2 Fault
      7 Fuse Fail
      8 Communication Fail
      Battery Fail

A battery fail fault registers when the system detects a
low capacity backup battery. The system
automatically performs a Battery Test every 4 hours
and every time the system is armed.

      Date and Time

The date and time fault registers every time the
system powers down. This type of fault does not
cause the FAULT indicator to display on the
codepad unless your installer programmed the
automatic arming time. Refer to Section 10.0 Setting
the Date and Time to program the date and time

      • I would say Battery…My original battery lasted 10 years, so i replaced it with a generic from Batteryworld $39 and it lasted 12 months.
