Blah blah… yeah yeah. We all know all that stuff

Sadly, in my experience many people don't know that stuff.
If people all knew everything as you expect, there would be no need for discussion or even OzBargain ;-)

If they fail, Bauhn products are just landfill.
I've recommended elsewhere returning products to Aldi near end of warranty for refund, then upgrade to latest model - you might even make a profit ;-)

That said nothing of returning a non-faulty product. That discussion was of faulty Bauhn products, in response to the previous comment warning not to buy Bauhn, based on experience with a dead Bauhn TV.

Doesn't seem you read what I wrote, rather read into it what you thought.

Ah, the internet. Seems you just want an argument - that's not for me.

But as I commented above, all Bauhn products I reviewed had 1 or more faults. So if a fault is found, its valid to return it.

The main Bauhn product I had recommended returning before the warranty ran out - had known faults I had discovered in testing. I posted those details on a forum discussing that particular product. I had discussed the faults with the Aldi manufacturer / distributor, but no economical remedy was available.

I still use that product daily, after reaching an agreement with the distributor & have a thorough understanding of how to avoid the firmware fauls. Its certainly not perfect, but it was a price I couldn't really say no to.

Some people did not want to part with that product they were used to using, despite design flaws. Some did not use the faulty features. Those were the ones I had recommended to return. I had offered the potential incentive to motivate people to return the known faulty product.

In my experience of discussing these issues with manufacturers & customers, your "STILL FUNCTIONAL" Bauhn devices may contain faults in features which that person may not use or faults they don't even know about.

I have never recommended returning Bauhn products that have no fault.

          Goodnight 💋

Ahhh - so you are saying that if the product becomes faulty, you exercise your warranty.

You rant about faults. But you get them repaired of have the device replaced or credited under warranty.

O RLY? That's how we all do it for ALL products, not just Aldi.

Put another way - if a device was non-functional, why would anyone NOT return it?

      • Love it !

  • +2

My parents have the 58inch version. It takes at least 1 minute to "warm up" to even be able to watch a tv channel. It also takes ages to change channels. I don't care how cheap it is - those poor features are enough for me to never buy one of these!

  • By the look of it this doesn't have wifi, but the 48" didn't list it in features either, but mentions it in the instruction manual
    http://www.bauhn.com.au/product-listing/48-4k-ultra-high-def…

Not interested if it doesn't have wifi

    • Bauhn manuals can have errors, so that earlier model may / may not have been supplied with WiFi. I've discussed this issue with a supplier to Aldi when they tried to recruit me.

The manual & supplied model sometimes may not match, as features can change between initial pitch to Aldi through to developed unit. It depends on whatever unit is available at the time cheap, that they can adapt for the Australian market.

Some manuals are supplied with paper glued over to make corrections. Although the online manual should be correct, don't count on it.

  • I've always had problems with reception on Aldi TVs.

  • Grab the 55" Viano UHD TV from Big W this week @ $569.
They are an Australian brand and with their own web site: https://iviano.com/
You'll get a much better TV and MUCH better service from Big W.
I've had a Viano 48" TV now for a couple of years - no problems and great picture!

    • Wifi?

    • Was it at a special price at Big W OR is it its normal price?

      • Catalog showed reduced prices on 2 TV (see deals) with higher price listed after deal. My guess is they only get in enough for catalogue period.

  • Rang Aldi - doesn't have wifi

  • I've seen this in a couple of Aldi stores with a red tag for $499???

    • Are you sure - only went on sale today. Don't think managers can undercut the catalog price, except at new store promotions (which have own catalog).

There's been a fair bit of old stock in stores - TVs left over from previous sales. Would be hard to move those similar models with this model selling cheaper. Hence the red tag manager reduced price.

      • Yeah, it's weird, it was definitely on the darker red tag like a markdown…I even got excited at one (Jesmond) coz they had the sticker on a 65" box, but when I got up close & read it closely it was the 55" UHD.

Hang on, I just remembered, they were both new-ish stores, maybe opening specials???

        • +1

New stores do that type of special only in opening week. $100 off normal catalogue price would be usual for large TV - but would be still a catalogue special for that store. There is usually a lot of in store promo for that type of deal. I'm sure you would have noticed that.

          Otherwise…
New stock does not have red tag manager mark down price.

On first day of sale, large items usually remain in caged area out the side/back - you need to ask for item.

Likely old stock from previous sales. I've seen so many large TVs sitting around for last few weeks, at much higher price than this deal.

$1199 65" UHD few weeks back, 48" before that, & other sizes. It could even be a $777 55" UHD from 30 March or maybe the $799 55" UHD model 2 weeks earlier… 😯

    • That may be the smaller 40inch model. I see that too in our local Aldi - Weston.

  • Anyone bought it? Please share experience.
