you dont have a smart phone at the moment? if you do, no matter what type just try and see if it works.
When u get it it's a good game. I find pokemon in my house everyday
This game is everywhere I Go
look for a second hand phone maybe.
Be cautious, but try gumtree.
Hell, here's one good example:

Or even this for <$200:

Unlike iPhones, or even most Windows Phones… specs matter when it comes to Android handsets!
Suggest at least 2gb ram. Also, do note that the game is quite buggy at the moment (server issues). Also, the pokedex does not work in some phones (like mine) (issue is across all brands of phones). Probably goggle potential issues with your phone model before purchasing.
To reiterate this, if your current phone isn't successfully working, it is likely the servers. We have 4 phones in the house that have been used to play it and the 2 higher spec ones had trouble getting started due to flakey registration servers and things that we might have thought were device limitations if the low spec phones hadn't already worked earlier.
There are actually non-server related issues as well. I think on some Samsung phones, the AR is upside down. Also, on my phone, the pokedex does not work. If you select a pokemon on the pokedex, it will just default to whichever pokemon you chose as your starter pokemon. (I googled, and apparently it's across brands as well).
My y550 with only 1GB ram runs it okay. Little laggy at times and AR doesn't work but good enough for me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
better to play it without AR most of the time. easier to catch pokemon.
AR is only decent for occasional snap.
AR makes it realistic, but I too play with the AR off. (Just so that I don't have to invade people's privacy by swinging the phone around)
I find no matter which phone you choose, you're still playing pokemon go, so will end up having to kill yourself anyway
I've found the Digimon fan, jealous of all the attention.
what the hell is digimon
Hey, pokemon is better than Digimon!
you mean like aids is better than cancer
@terminal2k: hmm. This one is tough.. Both would be awful in comparison to pokemon.
no, pokemon is cancer
@terminal2k: disagree. You can quit pokemon.
you may have remission from pokemon, but theres always the chance it might return
@terminal2k: sorry. It's different. Pokemon makes many people happy. Cancer will not.
if all the people playing pokemon got cancer, i would be very happy
@terminal2k: too evil. Bye
@supnigs: What about Digi-aids?
Just 2 tips about the game (so that you don't get run over by a car).
1) You don't actually have to be near a pokemon to catch it. As long as it appears on the screen, you can tap on it and it should bring you to the "catching" page.
(Which means, you don't need to stand in the middle of the road to catch a pokemon. You can catch it from the sidewalk.)
2) Once you are on the "catching" page, YOU DO NOT NEED TO CATCH ON THE SPOT. You can actually walk away from the location, find a nice comfy chair to sit on, before attempting to catch the pokemon.
(i.e. find somewhere safe. somewhere where you are not obstructing people.)
Game specs suggest at least 2gb ram. This only has 1gb.
