Give wife and kids $4 each to give back to you at the drive-thru window and ask them to do 5 separate transactions. Swap seats with wife, go through and make another 5 transactions. Are 60 regular chips enough for the 5 of you?

Last time, my local store let me buy 5, they just processed as one sale of 4, then a second sale of 1.
These chip are a hit and miss. Sometimes you get crispy ones and sometimes soggy ones. Hungry Jack's chips are a lot better. Also depending on location.

I personally LOVE the new Hungry Jacks chips and think they're way better than their old ones.
The new HJ's chips certainly are polarizing, I love them but my sister refuses to eat there until the old ones are back.
Of course they are tasty, loaded with msg now. Just like KFC chips. Makes the taste buds and brain cells light up. It's why they put it in.
@Carnal: I get reactions to MSG like being very thirsty, dry throat and sticky pass through…Anytime I have cheap Chinese take away I get all of those symptoms but I don't get that from extra salty KFC chips besides the expected dehydration from lots of salt, so you sure MSG has no side effects?
@yacman: you just described what salt does to you. unless you have an allergy, your anecdote doesn't show sufficient evidence of ill side effects from msg consumption.

I find its the amount of seasoning (or lack of) that's the issue
you can request to get fresh chips, stores should give you a fresh batch, ofcourse expect a wait time.
Meh they can keep their $1 chips if it means we get hot and spicy, mashies or $10 nuggets again

Actually Australian fast food is generally quite low in trans fats. KFC and McDonald's changed oils a number of years ago.
Whether you can fit the macronutrient breakdown of these chips into your total dietary requirements I'll leave to you though. Personally I could fit them in but with some active substitution elsewhere.
