"Ideal for homes with 126 or more Wi-Fi devices"
Damn, I only have 117.
Also it doesn't say much about the onboard LAN ports. Looks like maybe 1 WAN and 2 LAN from one of the customer videos - unsure if 100 megabit, or gigabit.
It's a 100Mbps, not Gigabit. Specs here:
Well that sucks for HFC/fibre then.
fttp and fttn is max 100mbps anyway
but 11ac is faster than 10/100
@tonyjzx:
I personally find that even at high ac speeds I rarely get above 10mb/s when you add in a wall or two between the router and client.Gigabit would be ideal…but $34 =P
That's one person though. Typically I may have a console two laptops and maybe a TV box going so they all eventually funnel down thru a single 10/100 line.
This place usually has heaps of router deals. I'm still using a pair of Dlink 865 ac1750s.
Also the above has only a chinese menu? That is normally a good thing outside of routers but you're probalby looking at ddwrt to maximise performance.

language : it says simplified chinese… good luck
谢谢。
I mean… Thanks!
I have one of these on my 50/20 NBN Service.
It has 2 onboard LAN Ports and a USB Port where you can insert a Hard Drive.
It's really small and quite a good looking unitI can get signal all through my 4 bedroom house which was better than my previous router could do.
There is a fantastic app on the Apple and Android Store called 'MiWiFi Router' which allows me to play around with a lot of settings. It has especially been helpful when you can see all the devices connected to the network and you can throttle or disable a device on the app (for instance lets just say my son's ipad or the PS4) all while pretending there is some sort of a network outage so he then proceeds to go out into the backyard to kick around the footy.
For the dollars it's hard to beat.
I'm on Tpg (Wondercomm) FTTB which is similar to NBN but does anyone know if this will work with FTTB? I'm really keen to get one but want to be sure it'll work. Thanks in advance
It depends on what termination you have in your apartment. If there is a LAN port directly on the wall, then this should work. If it is a phone port like what NBN will use, then you'll need a VDSL compatible router, or a separate VDSL model.
I'm with Spirit which I think does some form of FTTB, but there is a standard LAN port on the wall and any router with WAN can be used on it.
I'm on TPG and have FTTH. Got the smaller 2 antenna version of this router and it works fine, as you just run an ethernet cable from your NTD (https://www.tpg.com.au/support/nbn/ntd). I'm assuming everyone gets an NTD whether you are on FTTN or FTTH.
Haha I obviously assumed wrong. Now that I actually think about it, it obviously doesn't make sense to have copper from the node to your house then a random stretch of fibre terminating in an NTD!
@azz:
the whole FTTN doesn't make a lot of sense
how you guys manage to configure it , do you understand simplified chinese ?
I had a bit of trouble setting mine up (figuring out where passwords etc go), but once you're connected to the net you can get google to automatically translate all of the settings as its a browser based interface
It's a low budget router with single core MT7620A@580mhz, don't expect much for a decent wifi performance especially at peak time.
Looks like it could be doubled as a 3-slice toast holder.
Legalness and Australian compliance fail.
Is this a Router and Modem? or just Router?
router only
are these any good? can they run DDWRT?
