thanks. Just ordered on ebay for #375
msy have them normally for $369. Ebay postings are such a hassle when you get a doa. Our local MSY have improved their warranty and I have not had issues with refunds upon a major fault. Returned a sandisk ultra ii 960gb ssd that died after 3 months and my $ was returned.
Thanks, I tend to steer clear from MSY as i never have a good experience from them.
I used to dislike them too, recently returned my 10 month old patriot ssd that died and they refunded no hassles at Auburn :-)
You might be after genuine reds if so just disregard this, just food for thought.

Considering I can get 2 x 8TB drives delivered from Amazon UK for only slightly more ($500-$540 AUD) than the cost of a single 8TB red here in Australia (~$500), I figure I'll take the punt and deal with the 2 year warranty. I'm going to be running them in a Drivepool with redundancy anyway.
I would do alot of burn in testing while in the externals, before removing them and voiding warranty, just to make 100% sure they will last more than a week or so outside the enclosure. I usually do 2-3 extended tests in a row, then copy a disk full of data afterwards. Then do a crystaldisk test to see if there are any errors.
I know this is probably too late, but amazon UK has WD reds for ~$300-$310 after vat is removed thanks to the low pound from brexit.
they also just dropped by $30usd on amazon US
edit: aaand looks like they went straight back up :/
I think the answer is pretty much never. There has been some sales on the 3tb version but still not much savings.
