    Theres a few $25 offers

Plus the referral system is the 'nicer' option. You still get your $20 ride, but so does someone else :)

Is there any reason to use one of the $20 coupons instead of one of the $25 coupons?

My understanding is you can only use a coupon for your first trip on a new account, i.e. you can only ever use a single coupon, so why wouldn't you just go for the one with the highest dollar value?

Just wondering why I see people posting the $20 ones all the time.

      • +4

As I said, either $25 coupon, or $20 referral coupon which gives the referee a $20 trip as well, to share the love basically.

Just $20 off seems pointless to me, and I'm amazed this deal hit front page!

        • +2

Yeah the referral codes make sense - use one and get $20 off - then put yours in the queue and get another $20 off when someone else uses it.

This is probably the best option for a new user.

It's just that the non-referral $20 coupons seem, at least to me, to serve no purpose what so ever.

          Yep agree 100%

good way to bring attention to the uber referral promo. :P

Does any one pay for UBER? Besides cab drivers

    • +4

The sucker repeat users of Uber must pay. To me it looks like their loyalty isn't rewarded hence the lack of vouchers for repeat users.

      • +1

Just punish them by making a new account

You could also argue that we all pay if our health and education services get cut due to multinationals avoiding tax:

And Uber steals your money with no customer service contact details.

        • @xc: So does a regular taxi. 5%fee bad driving etc.

I'm curious at the lack of write ups about how to maximise these "new customer only" discounts from Uber.

As far as I can tell they have only 4 identifying pieces of information:

          1. Name - easy to make up
          2. Email - easy to get new free ones
          3. Mobile number - $2 SIM gets you a new number
          4. Credit card

It would seem that if you're a regular Uber user it would pay to keep a spare (old) phone handy, into which you can pop a $2 SIM to change numbers as required.

If they lock credit cards out after seeing them on a few accounts you could use a preloaded VISA/Mastercard.

You could obviously refer yourself a number of times before they might catch on and ban your main account but even without a referral there are multiple $25 codes floating around.

Yes, we used Uber last Tuesday week. Went from Darling Harbour to domestic airport at around 6.30pm for $1.64. The total cost is $21.64 but we had the $20 discount.

I would recommend Uber anytime, even without the discount it still come out to be cheap. Also no money handling because the ride is charge directly from your account .

rates are 1/2 the price of a taxi…. how can you complain!?

  • +1

thanks bud i just happen to install the app earlier today haha, nice timing

  • +1

actually i entered the code and it worked but it says "Sydney" in the coupon acceptance. Is this just for Sydney?

    • +1

I would think yes. I used a promo card/code once that had no city on it. Caught first Uber on the Central Coast and credit card was charged instead of using promo in account which still had no city reference. Uber were quick to refund though once I brought it to their attention.

    Home to airport 5am July 2015 $10
Home to airport 5am July 2016 $26 wasn't expecting that.

have rates gone up or? sorry ive never used an uber so i dont know what the deal is?

  • +1

says sydney :( still wanna try this out cant be worse than adelaide cabs

    • +1

yeah i posted that above too. Sucks cos im in Bris and now i can't remove the coupon and add a brisbane one so im screwed out of a coupon, of which there are many to choose from as a guy above posted. OP should really add (Sydney) to the description so other people dont get sucked in

Anyone please tell me if Uber taxi's run 24 hours in Sydney? I need to get a taxi from my central city hotel to the airport at 04:30 a.m on a weekday.
    Thanks.

    • +1

they run all the time, but you are likely to find less drivers at that time. I was able to find an uber at 5am to the airport on a weekday in melbourne.

  • Is there anyway to remove an existing First Ride promotion. For some reason I have a Melbourne code applied to mine even though I live in Sydney and I can't get rid of it.

    • -1

keep it. you can use it when using Uber in Melbourne.
