Looking to go to Japan in March and being a massive tight ass I would love to get my grubby little hands on some cheap flights for me and my partner.

If the purpose of your trip is to see the cherry blossoms, please be aware that they are incredible, but the downside is every other person in Japan is out looking too and accomodation is through the roof.
Air BnB will get you something reasonably priced though.
I go to Japan at least once a year (this year 3 times)
always fly Jetstar when they have their sales.march/april are traditionally hard to get sale fares for due to the high number of people going for Cherry Blossom Season.
In March/April they have usually got a sale for Aug-Nov
Just remember that cherry blossom wash across across Japan from the south to the north over a 3-4 week period. There are people who follow the bloom. I experienced 3 cherry blossom seasons when I lived there. Its really festive. Japanese people really party in the parks.
Just wait for a Jetstar sale. I would be pretty confident that the flights you want will go on sale within the next month.
