Nice to have as an emergency backup, but with the weight of sites (even mobile sites) nowadays 3G can feel painfully slow.

    • Too bad the data allowances are too paltry to make use of 4G speeds.

        Cheer up, it's 2G for $5

  • This is great value. It's a HiLink modem covering the B1 and B8 3G bands (2100 MHz & 900 MHz) and supports DC-HSPA+ speeds (up to 43.2 Mbps). That means Optus and Vodafone coverage, and .. mine was unlocked out of the box. The date code was Jan 2017.

With a Vodafone SIM, it connected very quickly, even without creating a new profile.

I noticed it's on the modem compatibility list for the Netcomm NF5 router. Bonus, bonus, bonus. A bargain for $5. Data is only 2 GB for 14 days but this is rolled over if you buy an Optus 7 GB/365 day expiry recharge for $50.
