Optus has just released their Android App to watch EPL.
I know you can lease the Fetch TV Mini for $5 a week, but that adds up over time ($60/year). What would you recommend as a cheap Android TV unit that can handle this?

I didn't know this about MHL. Thanks
does the app work with chromecast?
Not at the moment it doesn't, but i hope it gets added in down the track as this app is only in it's first version
Maybe this … seems to fit the bill.
S905 is not a bad chipset, I've ordered stuff from Geekbuying, Gear best etc and it can take several weeks to get here.
I have a RK3386 chipset box I will see if I can try tonight to tell if it works ok.
To say you can "purchase" the device for $5/month is extremely misleading as it states in the Terms that it must be returned to Optus upon cancellation of the subscription (for the Fetch TV Mini).
Fair point. I've updated the post above. You could technically purchase it for $150 by cancelling the subscription and not returning it.
I've got an old galaxy s3 that I plug into the TV with an MHL cable, works great. If you've got an old phone with MHL, this is your best solution
