Pizza Lovers - Best Pizza in The World

I've been around the world (in my opinion), and wherever I went, I ate pizza.

As you all know pizza originates from Italy, but they don't make the best pizzas in the world! For me, the best pizza is in New York. All over the city, you name it.

What do you think?

  • Costco is pretty good (and cheap)

    • You've got to be kidding. Costco pizza is vile!

I bought some of those McCain 'take away' pizzas. Supposedly as good as takeaway. They were a disgrace. Should have saved my money and got the Aldi or home brand ones.

As for proper pizza, in Aussie it's hit or miss in proper small business pizza joints, but there are some great ones around.

^This; so bloody damn much this!!!

They are indeed utter rubbish, doughy, tasteless rubbish, and grossly overpriced rubbish at that.

Nah. The best was at a small camp resort next to the beach in Malawi. Handmade wood fire made by a local cook using mystery ingredients.

The fact that it could have been our last meal made it taste so much better than anything before or since.

The best pizza's I had were 20-30 years ago when there were many independent small Pizzeria's. All of the best ones were wood fired with garden fresh ingredients. The pizzas would be more expensive than a steak dinner.

Most of those fabulous Pizzeria's have closed down. Customer's now prefer fast pizza. Plus the quality of the fruit and vegetables sold in the markets is tasteless compared to 30 years ago. Lots of cheaper chemically ripened tomatoes.

This is just my guess, parents who ran Pizzeria's didn't pass on the family business to their kids and the Pizzeria's have closed due to the owners being too old to run the business.

    • My family had three such Pizzerias during the "golden age" of 70s-80s. At the time, customers were not impressed with Pizza Hut. Once Dominos kicked off, my uncle saw the writing on the wall and the last business was sold.

Fun times, good people, free pinball & pizza!

The best pizza must be cooked in a wood fire oven.

That's a bit like asking what's the best roast? There are a number of different styles of pizza. Popular styles will vary by region and depending on what you like best, you might find that certain regions do better than others.

From my perspective, the best three pizza places I have found were in Latina in Italy, Werfen in Austria and Northbridge in Australia. Each one did a different style.

I found New York pizzas average (lower east-side) and sub-par in rest of Manhattan. Brooklyn and New Jersey didn't do all that well either. The worst pizza I ever had was in the Czech Republic, closely followed by one in Tokyo.

But, it will no doubt depend on the chef at a particular venue. You might accidentally find the best pizza you're ever going to eat in some tucked away shop in a small town.

  • you probably like the new york style pizzas. theres many differing varieties. i tend to enjoy independent joints best. ones that make their own tomato sauce and bases from scratch.

dislike most francise places wherre I find it too salty with too many ingredients.

  • Best I had was in Italy but guess it's what you're use to as in Italy they usually doesn't have lots and lots of toppings like we do in AU/USA. Wood fired pizzas are best for me.

  • Sao Paulo Brazil

  • Try some great pizzas locally here.
I am an pizza addict and always on look out for good Pizza.

    Da Mario - Rosebery

Pizza e birra - Surry hills

  • If your in Perth then Theo's pizzeria is by far the best

    • Brando's Vic Pk.

      • I have tried brando's a few times as it is close to my work but haven't been impressed.

Best pizza I've had in Melbourne was a place called Baked in South Melbourne on York Street. Pre made ones I like Dr Oetker as you can add things you like to them and they're pretty good if you get them cheap, but there is no substitute for home made ones, even if you use pre made dough at Woolies. Pizza options are plentiful but disappointing. I live near a pizza place, but I won't go there by choice lol

    • Dr Oetker's, never tried those. Could be good. But, when we speak about pizza dough my wife makes great dough. She makes all kind of Calzone, pizza and you name it. What ever comes to your mind.

  • Best pizza I've ever had was in Fiji! A restaurant called Mama's Pizza inn. If you go to Nadi in Fiji, go to Mama's Pizza and order the local favourite Nadi Special. A vegetarian pizza with coriander leaves and green chillies added. Add extra chicken for some more yuminess!
