$3 and under @McDonald's - What Is $3? (VIC)

What is $3: The '3-for-$3' meal is a McDonald's speciality. The most utilitarian of possible meal combinations, one cheeseburger, one small fries and a small coke. Catch it if you can. It just popped up in my local drive-thru, much to my late night delight. If it is not available near you? Your hack, Er option, is this:

One McDonald's Cheeseburger is $2.70 (06/16 VIC).
You then present your pre-filled [feedback form (https://mcdonalds.com.au/feedback). This adds fries, 10 chicken 'bites' OR a small soft serve cone. You choose, but a small fries adds to build a traditional meal. Then add anything to your order to raise the price over $3. This is 30c+ Do you want a soft serve (50c) or cookies ($1) or something downright crazy (link to 24 nuggets $9.95)?

Then, flash your student edge card. I am a student, so I have one. You may need to ask a friendly student to borrow theirs. Rarely checked, rarely questioned. FREE Drink. I usually just go for Coke, but have asked for iced tea, hot tea, etc – just ask, you might land a milkshake.

McDonald's -
All States receive a free medium soft drink or orange juice with any purchase over $3*.
WA Members Receive a free Medium Soft Drink, Orange Juice or Standard Hot Chocolate with any purchase over $3*.
VIC Members Receive a free Medium Soft Drink, Orange Juice or Small McCafe coffee with any purchase over $3*(https://studentedge.com.au/deals/details/mcdonalds-drink-dea…)

Remember, never hassle the counter person and if they need to talk to the manager, he is probably just a real pain in the ass so just show him what you showed them. Usually, pretty simple and if they flat out refuse – its a franchise. He just says no even though company policy says yes. Let it go and move on to the next one. Relax, walk about 500m in any direction and you should find one if you live in a major city. Plan ahead and fill out multiple feedback forms for the McDonald's in the area you live, work and socialise. Many of these stores are so busy they don't remember if you come back twice in a night. Or ten times.

This then is your even cheaper option <$1. Feedback Form = ff.(purchase + ff + options) Purchase of any item activates the ff. Buy a soft serve and get one free. Buy a soft serve and receive 10 chicken bites. Buy a soft serve and receive a small fries. Cost 50c. (06/16 VIC).

Other cheap options: “Lose Change Menu”: Chicken and Cheese Burger $2, Hamburger $2, Frozen Coke $1, So many options; get creative. A Chicken and Cheese with a Hash Brown and Chicken Bites? The ChickenHashNCheese? Enjoy and remember #dontbeadoucheaboutit

    walk about 500m

    You mean 50.

TL;DR use feedback bonus to top up your $3 small cheeseburger meal (3for3).
If you have a student edge card use that too.

    • also continue to use feedback bonus as many times as you can until you're told no.

      • Yeah, or just do multiple runs. If you're out in a major city you often just move from one to the next.

OP seems to cooking up a good deal but the post itself is frying my brain

Yeah, but by what measure can I use that allows others to know how easily 'fried' your brain is. Does math fry your brain?

You must be an interesting date… :P

    • Ha, well luckily my significant other is also on the cheap side so it works for me. Some people like paying for fast food. I just prefer to pay less for their food. To each their own.

      • Eh, it comes down to $s/Minute saved. If you're going to the next Maccas to save $1, then you need to really reevaluate what your time is worth!

        • I guess if you monetise every hour, every day and break time into chunks of hourly rates, then sure. That's a fair analysis of 'bargain'. The other perspective on a bargain is thrift. Spend less, work less, enjoy more time for non work activities because you need less. Two sides of the same coin.

        • how much time have we all spent on ozbargain monetised vs savings we have achieved?

  • I hope you have deliberately written it in a satirical way, otherwise that would be sad.

HJ is much easier. Buy chicken royal meal for $3.95, add free salad, wear fire fighter hat to get 25% off, redeem up to 3 free cheeseburgers, get a free prize from shake'n'win, check in again with a different account, download movies with their wifi, read the newspapers, ask them to refil water bottle for you, don't forget to refill your soft drink as many times as you want, help yourself to tomato sauce to go with the new chips.. All for $2.95

    • I wrote it to see what happened. That's all. If you're wearing a fire fighter hat you are probably just giving some people a laugh. If that's not your style - just pay full price for fast, efficient service.

      • Oh sorry mate. I enjoyed your post!
