The Good Guys Price Online purchase price drop

I bought a Washing Machine online from good guys at A$ 729 on 24th June,16. The very next day, they dropped the price to A$ 658 and now when I called them to check if they can refund the price difference, they say that 30 days price guarantee is only applicable for competitor stores.

I can not get the price from any other competitor for this product because this product is exclusive for 'TGG'.

When I asked if I can cancel the order and re-order again to get the latest price, they are saying to get in touch with local pick up store.

Not sure if I can get the price difference from them. Any idea ?

    "Not sure if I can get the price difference from them. Any idea ?" So why don't you do what they suggested? To contact the local store then you will know if you can or can not get the difference refunded.

    • Store representative said he can't do it because it's online purchase.

    Some discussion on this here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/238483

    Maybe you can ask for the difference in gift cards as they may be more willing to do this than a refund

    • Thanks mate. I will visit the store tomorrow and will ask them if they can do so.

      • I have done this and confirmed that depending on your negotiation skill, the manager can give the store credit in good faith. They are the 'good guys' after all..

    Bought with CC? Some cards have a price protection.

    • Yes, bought with NAB Visa Card

        Yeah, contact NAB and see if they can assist.

        And then double dip by going into the store tomorrow.

        • Often they have A) Minimum price difference B) You need a printed catalogue with the new price. If the Washing machine is not in the catalogue, then it's tough.
          I would go for an "Happy Customer" turned into a "Sour Customer".
          If you are OK for GG credit voucher changes are higher.

          @cameldownunder:
          NAB Qantas Card Insurance Conditions:
          1. The full cost (100%) of the item must be paid for with your NAB Card.
          2. The lower price must be on a printed advertisement displaying the exact same item (same brand, manufacturer, make, model name and/or model number), from a store within twenty-five (25) kilometres of the store from where you purchased your item.
          3. The difference between the lower price and the original price you paid must be more than $75.
          4. The printed advertisement must have been published within twenty-one (21) days following your purchase.
          5. Claim payments will not include any merchant’s credit, discount and/or manufacturer’s rebates, shipping and handling fees.

          So you might be out of luck if they haven't been printed/put in a catalogue.

          @ilikeradiohead:
          And the Price difference ! $71 instead of $75 minimum.

        • @cameldownunder: Oh yeah I didn't even do the maths haha.

        • @ilikeradiohead: Also, the difference is only 71 dollars.

  • We've just ordered a new washer through them yesterday and they are now promoting the 'Concierge' service, which has the extended warranty and 'Price Shield 30 Day Price Protection'. At a cost of $135 for 5 year warranty (even overlaps the manufacturer's warranty of 2 years, so really only additional 3 years) we declined. Could be their way of getting out of the price protection unless you opt to pay more. Interesting too, they are no longer 'less for cash' so we didn't give them cash!

  • Went to The Good Guys store and asked them about the differences. They happily refunded the difference of A$ 71 into my credit card.
