Ebates - 15% Cashback @ eBay.com (US) Collectibles Category - Inc. Arcade

40

Noticed ebates has 15% cashback on the ebay.com (US) collectibles category.

Some interesting sub-categories:

It might be worth sorting by free international shipping - as not all sellers ship internationally.

Ebates also gives a $10 USD bonus for signing up and spending $25 USD at any store. So there is potential for a $25 USD purchase to get $13.75 USD back (62%). Ebates pay cashback as Paypal in USD.

If you like, consider putting [email protected] in the "did someone refer you?" box. Referee gets no benefit but referrer gets $5 for first referral and $45 for second referral before June 30.

Referral Links

Referral: random (33)

Referrer and referee get $40.

  • I've always wanted Maximum tune, maybe now is my time!

  • Seeing as some comments have been moderated:

The additional info added to the post is inaccurate. Here are the current benefits of the ebates referral program.

The $10 USD joining benefit and 15% ebay US cashback are available regardless.

Editing a deal post for no good reason really is starting to get annoying. I did read the rules just then, no such info was required (and if you insist it had to be a ref link they would only get $5 USD).

End result is I won't post increases to cashback anymore. Which is sad because I think it is an excellent deal.

    • you did me a solid and i thank you, i might have maximum tune 3 up and running soon.

      • Thanks.

    • If you like, consider putting ___ in the "did someone refer you?" box. Referee gets no benefit but referrer gets $5 for first referral and $45 for second referral before June 30.

      Is the same as:

For your first referral, you will receive a $5 base bonus. For you second referral, you will receive a $5 base bonus plus an additional $40 bonus. $5 + $5 + $40 = $50

Except your post should really mention the need to spend over US$25.

What's the problem? How, in your mind, does it not explain the benefit to you of adding your email when signing up?

      • The problem is people screwing with my posts. I don't have that much of a problem with it - but why? Was I being misleading? Was there a rule broken?

        It is just power tripping.

        • No, its explaining the referral and why someone should do it, as I explained below, it's not too much to ask.

      • I absolutely did mention the need to spend over $25 btw.

    • Oh and as to the rules:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guidelin…

      • You are then allowed to post one referral link at the end of the main post body (without any formatting). Make sure you declare your referral link. For example,
        • It contains my referral link, and if you click through and make purchase, I will be getting commission from your purchases.

A simple explanation isn't too much to ask really is it? If you're gonna put your hand out, at least explain why.

      • Are you saying you were confused that it was a referral link? I made that more than clear.

        • No, that was clear, but what's wrong with not having an explanation? Are you worried people won't click on it now, because there's no benefit to them?

        • @Spackbace:

The issue is the needless fiddling all the time.. it's not breaking the rules and I should be able to edit my post as I see fit (I now cannot).

I always made it clear there was no benefit and that referral was optional - the deal always stood alone. It still does. An unscrupulous poster would have just posted their link and said $5 bonus and you would have been totally ok with that.

Furthermore, there is nothing to click - it's not a link.

        • @gringo:

The issue actually appears that from looking at your other Ebates posts, at no point has anyone noticed that little referral line you've added, and the lack of explanation on it. Sure, it's meant you've had a referrer tag added to it, but nothing else. This time it's been noticed, and you're not happy. Users generally won't add something or click something if there's no benefit to them, so your referral credit will be greatly diminished if you have to explain yourself every time, so you're not happy.

It's there in the rules that some form of explanation is required. The fact your other posts flew under the radar in that regard is besides the point.

        • @Spackbace:

Ha, I think only one person ever signed up by copying and pasting the email.

You're right it's actually a big pain to do that (vs a link) when there is no benefit to them. Almost nobody does it.

But one person did (thank you), I guess they went out of their way because they used the deal and I appreciate it. It wasn't this deal.

It was declared as a referral, and that it was optional. This was enough IMO (and satisfies the rules).

I don't appreciate the tone of words like "flew under the radar" either. Anyway the point is moot.. that's it for cashback deals here.. enjoy the 300 vote "loch ness ladles" deals instead.

    • The additional info added to the post is inaccurate

If it is inaccurate, you can correct it. Removing the information altogether or reducing the information is not helpful. I asked you in the comment above (now unpublished) to explain the details of the referral in case it was incorrect.

Editing a deal post for no good reason really is starting to get annoying

It is not for no good reason if it provides extra information and is relevant to the deal.

Unless there is incorrect information there at the moment, let's move on.

      • The issue is the needless moderation. I didn't appreciate it and chose to revert it. I still don't think it's relevant to the actual deal.

Please change the rules if you don't like this - at least then we are clear.

Futhermore - your topcashback system is very inaccurate. It gives the impression of $10 for signup when signup deals actually change all the time.

Now for instance, referred gets $0 - which is very misleading.

        • I didn't appreciate it and chose to revert it.

Sorry, by posting here you have to accept that you do not own the post and edits can occur.

Please change the rules if you don't like this

The rules currently state that the referral is to be declared with an example that contains an explanation.

Futhermore - your topcashback system is very inaccurate. It gives the impression of $10 for signup when the deals actually change all the time.
Now for instance referred gets $0. Now who is being misleading?

The text that is shown in the grey box is updated manually. We rely on users informing us what the referral is. It would have been helpful if you had reported that the information needs to be updated. Now that I am aware of the issue, I will update this text.

Please use the reporting function for issues with misinformation, or TWAM to discuss moderation issues.

        • @moocher:

          1) I never said I owned the posts. It's about respect - and if you have rules they should work both ways.

          2) I declared it as a referral link. Here is the rule:

"You are then allowed to post one referral link at the end of the main post body (without any formatting). Make sure you declare your referral link."

I did. I think a reasonable person knows that referrals have a benefit. Only an example is given, not an enforced template.

          3) Perhaps you should do some work yourself? I would post deals when they increased referral bonuses but anticipate similar grief.

          4) TWAM has been tried and failed. I'm obviously not getting through. I'm done here.

        • @gringo:

It seems that your comments are becoming quite disrespectful.

          1) Moderators/power users can add any information to add accuracy to the deal. We did not breach any rules.

          2) See above

          3) It's not difficult to click the 'report' button to let us know about an issue, if you were genuinely concerned about accuracy. Rather than anticipate grief before posting a deal, you should read the guidelines or ask us if you are genuinely confused.

Past breaches such as entering the referral link as the main URL, putting your referral link at the top of the deal, soliciting referrals by making misleading comments, posting referral links for websites other than the main store etc. may also be avoided.

          4) Saying that TWAM has 'failed' because in the past you requested us to breach our own guidelines and allow you to enter a referral link on a deal that wasn't for that store is highly disingenuous, from guidelines:

Do not post referral links from a merchant, retailer or service provider different to the one for the main deal.

If you can't play by the rules then don't play at all. We have been more than patient, if you have anything to discuss do so in TWAM and ensure that you follow guidelines. Please respect that making deals more informative is our right - posting your referral link in any way or form you want is NOT.

Use TWAM to talk with us any further (for genuine requests/discussion).

          Thanks

        • @hamza23:

          1) You can but in this instance it added no value (it really doesn't) and lost a content contributor (me).

          3) That is not an accurate representation of those conversations & I dispute much of that (e.g. - A store link as the main link when it gives more information about the specific product than the cashback site or when cashback is an equally important part of the deal should be allowed). Anyway your tone is becoming a bit mean so..

          4) I disagree with your premise but agree with your solution. I'll stop posting any deals.

  • Nice suggestion on the Arcade gear, looking at not only the scanline generator but also the RGB to VGA converter (the BCG8200) so I can hook up some of the retro consoles direct to some of my newer displays

    • +1

BCG8200 is a pretty good budget way to do it.

I ended up getting a DVDO edge second hand from ebay for $100 (+a few extra bits and pieces) and I'm pretty happy with it.

The OSSC or xrgb mini are more highend options. But it's a slippery slope and you can spend a truckload before you know it.

      • +1

Yes I've seen some of those, at the moment I'm trying to hold myself back! ;)

Hopefully I'll be able to use it for a few things, got an old DIY Supergun MVS I built a few years ago that would be nice to play again, along with a 60hz modded Mega Drive and Amiga 500.
