Once. But yeah the shipping fee is making it expensive! I dont mind paying for the work since they are handmade with love, but the shipping fee just puts me off.
Agree. But if the seller is in the same country it shouldn't be expensive.
The ones I like are from overseas :(
Plenty of Alibaba jewellery there.
What's Etsy?
yes, please explain.
It's basically a online marketplace for handmade/unique/small manufacturers.
It's been a while since I wanted pillow cases made out of fetus skin and a knitted 2 foot high erect (profanity).
I have tried to buy on there but my order was cancelled as the US seller said she undercharged for postage and could not offer the item for that price. I have considered other products but usually can find similar on ebay. It use to be 'hand made' only but they have relaxed the rules in recent years. For such items I will go to local stores/markets.
I recently tried to purchase a hand made item through Etsy.
After 4 weeks of nothing, I emailed the seller checking on the order. They said I didn't specify what I wanted and they emailed me the day after my order to clarify. This was an outright lie. I put the details in the "Notes to seller" field and I had no message either in my email inbox or in my Etsy inbox (of which all further correspondence was saved, even though it also forwarded the msg to my email).
I decided to be bigger man and not argue, so just gave my details. Didn't hear anything back, so sent another email, courteously asking where it was at. 5 days later and no response - I first initiated a dispute through Etsy, they pretty much told me they can't do anything, go via PayPal. Did this, seller didn't respond to the dispute, amount refunded.
A few days later, the seller responded to the dispute in Etsy - being new to Etsy and having been directed to PayPal, I hadn't closed the dispute. They spouted the same lies as above (didn't give details, etc), and put in a sob story about how when the amount was refunded they were probably 2 hours off finishing the item and shipping it. They showed Etsy that it was refunded and Etsy closed the dispute (all good and well), but it really made my blood boil. The silver lining was that while the Etsy dispute was in place, their Etsy account was restricted.
I know that is not going to represent all sellers on Etsy, but not too keen to return after that.
Shipping costs tends to kill the deal
