  • be advised that real CAs for construction companies are 4yr degree qualified

a free 2 day course isnt a bad thing in itself but its like a 2 day doctors course….

  • Hi guys - yes, however the eligibility criteria are:

    2. Have left school

    3. Live or work in NSW

    4. Be an Australian Citizen or Australian permanent resident or humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand Citizen

    • Hi - Does this 2 day course lead to a certificate or something? or is it just a pathway course into the Cert IV in construction?

      • Hi there, the outcome is a Statement of Attainment in the units specified. These units are part of the Certificate IV in Building and Construction. You can read more about it here: http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/ftw/Tradespeople/Home_buil…?

        • It means if we complete the 2 day course — it means nothing unless we continue to take the remaining unit/course for Cert IV in Building and Construction ?

        • Hi there, it definitely means something, this is Nationally Recognised Training and provides valuable learning outcomes for Tradies who need to understand contracts management for construction. The added benefit is that it provides partial completion of the Certificate IV in Building and Construction which is the qualification required to become a builder.

  • They should get the fake tradie to do this course

    • Had exactly the same thought… :D

  • Lots of NSW TAFEs are offering fee-free* short courses at the moment but you have to get in before 30 June for many of them. OTEN's (distance ed) fee-free* ones are here: https://oten.tafensw.edu.au/courses-and-careers/training-pro…

    • Riverina Institute has MYOB available online - https://www.rit.tafensw.edu.au/course-information/fee-free-c…

    • South Western Sydney - https://swsi.tafensw.edu.au/Students/Future-Students/Our-cou…
Western Sydney (inc OTEN) - https://wsi.tafensw.edu.au/courses-and-careers/promotions/fr…
Someone want to go to the effort of collecting the others?

      • But be mindful that whilst these are Fee-Free… it's not the same as the NSW Government's Smart and Skilled Fee-Free Scholarships - that's for folks in public housing or on benefits, can't have done a higher qual etc, aged between 15-30, pint of blood etc, etc. Because of course the current mess called TAFE NSW can't even offer free courses in a clear manner to their future students let alone the fully paid ones. end rant

      • I try to click on several of the link saying FREE course —>
"Statement of Attainment in Property Services " and "Statement of Attainment in Tax Law for Tax Agents Skill Set"

        Both shows fee is $485

I also look at the eligibility calculator which says I'm eligible.

How to verify this is free?

I guess I need to complete the entire registration and maybe somewhere at the end they will says I do not have to pay anything ?

Anyone enrolled for one of the courses for free ?

        • If you go here: https://wsi.tafensw.edu.au/course/563-17677v02-property-serv… and scroll down to the bottom, you are given two options… "OTEN (Fee-for-service)" which ends up being $485 and "OTEN" (nothing beside it). Choose the second option and if you follow through to "How much is this course?" it'll show you that it is free.

And I have fully enrolled in both Tax Law and Property Services for $0, so the answer is: yes. You just have to click in the right spots (thanks TAFE!).

        • Found it…

Select "TAFE NSE FEE" so it will show "0" fee.cost

        • @blerk:

          Thanks.

          Will do the same.

But I guess I will enroll once I complete the other course before I enrolled on the other course.

  • Always wanted to be a builder . Time to take the course

  • If I finished this 2 day course…. am I qualifed to apply on a construction job? what kind of job I can apply?

    • Hi there, the outcome is a Statement of Attainment in the units specified. These units are part of the Certificate IV in Building and Construction. Ideally you will already be working in the construction industry.
