Found an email in my spam folder from Ribble Cycles:

$20 OFF (NO MINIMUM SPEND)
Make your first purchase on our new Australian website. Use code: WELCOME20
We miss you! We notice that you haven’t shopped with us recently. Did you know we now have a dedicated Australian website? It can be found at:
www.ribblecycles.com/au
As a gift to celebrate, get a free $20 spend using the code WELCOME20.
Act fast as gift limited to the first 1,000 returning customers - valid until ‌22/07/16.

It says 'returning customers', but the code works before I log in, so hopefully it works for new customers anyway.

Unfortunately they've bumped their free delivery threshold from $100AU to $149AU, so you'll be paying at least $10 postage, which still makes it a $10 discount voucher.

  • Any bargains?

    • standard cheap online UK bike store pricing + discount = bargain

      • -1

Anything that stands out as a particular bargain though?
You might get some more votes if you highlight a couple of good deals.

        • Not everyone is in this for votes, some people just wanna pass on a chance to save money…and no, I didn't neg you!!

        • +1

No worries, I don't care about votes myself, look at my deal posts.
I was just trying to encourage the Op to post up some individual bargains.

  • Great but always comes up with min of $15 postage

    • Yeah, I paid $15 on my order, but it does say $10 here - http://www.ribblecycles.com/au/delivery/#australia

      • The website is a bit dodgy. States 70% off on some items but when you click on it the discount is nowhere near that.
Postage to Oz states depends on weight but not correct, it is $15 no matter how small. Kind of makes me not trust a company that does these things.

        still, couldn't resist

        Cheers

        • Almost all the UK/Euro (heh) bike companies have postage set to a minimum based on purchase cost ($99 - $150).

For example if I buy my winter wheels package for around $200, I pay no postage and I get around 10% off.

Minimum postage is reasonable considering they have to ship it across oceans to get to you.

        • @Telios:

“Parts & Accessories (orders under $149) From $10.00
based on weight / volume / value of your order. Our site will calculate this for you and advise you of the charge before you accept the order”

But then any item you put in the basket comes up as $15….so why say $10 on the website.

          @slipperypete:
I've just sent them an email asking to clarify.

  • Yup just added an $8 bottle cage and it wants to charge me $15 shipping

  • +1

Its $15 to WA by standard Royal Mail.

$20 does not come off Shipping.

    • No freebies. You just need to fill up your cart to $20 and pay for $15 shipping. Basically it is free shipping plus $5 off.
Thanks OP. Bought a few tubes @$5 each which I got the wrong valve type from my order from CRC so need tubes urgently and this is perfect timing.

      • You know bike shops have tubes in stock for maybe $8 each?

        • Yeah, I'm not entirely sure buying online from the UK is a good idea if you need anything urgently…

        • Not my LBS, they want $11 or $12 for a low quality tube.

        • @damion: I can wait a week or 2. CRC shipping is quit fast and Amazon UK is amazingly fast. Hope this Ribble isn't too slow.

        • @wtfnodeal: From memory, my last order took exactly 2 weeks.

        • @damion:
I just got my latest CRC order in 6 days which is faster than an order i did from a bike shop in Australia last week

  • Thanks. Placed an order.

    • What did you buy?

      • Stocked up on tubes and a repair kit.

  • Ribble doesn't have the Padlock on the website, is it safe to transact?

    • If you're not entering your CC details or personal details with no https (padlock symbol) then yes. But usually when you go to the cart or checkout it will then be a https site. Or if it goes to PayPal for payment check to see if the padlock on on that site which it should be.

TLDR; sites are fine to not have a padlock until you get to a payment section.

I found the bike locks here.

  • Damn just made a purchase, thanks OP will look for some bargains

  • Does the discount code still work if you try to pay in pounds?

    • +1

Not sure, but I can tell you that their ribblecycles.co.uk and ribblecycles.com/au websites have a different back-end.
I spent ages trying to figure out why I couldn't log in, and eventually realised my account was on the .com/au site and not the .co.uk site.

There own brand photochromic sunglasses on clearance at $35.99 ( http://www.ribblecycles.com/au/ribble-photochromic-lens-glas… ) seems an awesome price even with the postage. A couple of good reviews too. I need a pair to take traveling with me so I'll give them a go - so with the discount code its $30.99 delivered that's a BARGAIN!

    • Sorry noob here. What do these glasses do and why choose these over normal sunglasses? Thanks

      • the lenses change colour dark<->light depending on how bright it is.
not sure on those particular ones, but the good ones will change from about 80% light transmission (for night time), to 12% for sunny days.
Some only change when under UV light (so they won't work behind glass windscreens or indoors), but new types change when under any light.

Older types also had issues with temperature changes, on hot days, they'd go clear.

  • Tonight, it seems postage is only free over $150
All the effort to get a total of $149.90, and it was showing $15 postage !

Some prices are better than wiggle and CRC, so might try them, even if just for $5 net discount.

  • Thanks OP, this code just worked for me. Maybe we could make the deal as un-expired.

    • Hrrm, not working for me today.
I wonder if it's because it's August now, or if it's because I've used it already on my account.
