Why do you live where you live (suburb/area)?

Just wanted to throw this question out there.
I ask this question for both renters and home owners.
Obviously, we can only live where we believe we can afford, but I am trying to get a deeper answer than that. So, if you automatically thought your only answer to this was "it was all I could afford", why did you choose this suburb over say the others in the same price range (buy price or weekly rent).

Thanks :)

Do you mean you live close to where you work as a hooker or hookers work close to where you live?

It's not clear within your reply

  • closest 10 acres we could find to existing work, school, doctor etc

  • I live in the the area most convenient to my family and my needs traveling time is wasted time (unless on holidays or touring)

I have purchased an apartment as close to where I want to be (Melbourne CBD) as cheaply as possible (Inner West). I also chose the inner west as traffic isnt horrible compared to the east side.

I think for my second property I would like to move to a slightly sunnier place, still close to the city, thats still cheap and also close to the beach (thinking Adelaide..).

I believe that for a property that you live in, location should always be the number 1 priority over size as you can always work with the space that you have, not so much the location.

    • You must be the first person from Melbourne who wants to move to Adelaide. I assumed it was one-way traffic (seems to be from Perth at least).

      • I'm actually originally from Perth haha.
Melbourne is great, dont get be wrong. But I miss being able to go to the beach without turning into an ice block.
But Perth sucks so I dont really plan on going back there anytime soon, especially not to buy a place.

  • I chose where I live for it's location.
I'm close to public transport, 2 mins walk to the supermarket and pretty reasonable travel time to the CBD and my work place.

  • Investment reasons.

  • I live in the country, but chose our area based on house size/age, being on the better side of town and price. And close to a park and in an owners rather than renters st. Close to everything-although everywhere is close by city standards.

    Lifestyle

Sydney suburb - green leafy environment with large blocks but close to the CBD for work (public transport or cab), close to tennis courts and beaches. Close to public transport, schools, and shopping centres and great neighbors and community.

  • the environment/atmosphere.
I was near a busy road for a while and decided to go to a quiet area.

Lots of OzB still at home.
Starting to see a trend of the type of OzB users.

    My bail conditions

  • We ended up at the "Heights" section of our suburb. As the name suggests, it's much less likely to be flooded (but we're only 31 metres above sea level).

  • Close to work and family. People don't appreciate the time they waste travelling to work. An hour each way to work means you are working an extra day (10hours in total) per week on the road/train. I'd rather get home early or sleep in

      • The reason he has internet is because of my NBN policy, everyone in the bush will get fast internet, doesn't matter if you are Aboriginal or an ascetic buddhist monk living in the Blue Mountains, I guarantee you internet.

Vote for me this coming election. INTERNET FOR EVERY1!!!!

  • Location with lifestyle including lake, parks, less traffic, space (decent separation between houses and a yard) and tied together with proximity to good schools and amenities. We've stayed in the area and moved to what we think is a better house for us. Have both also moved jobs, mine is closer than the old one, hers is a bit further, but not much.
