Or the Samsung EVO 850s?
Define "better". Better value? Better price? Better performance? Better overall?
The ultra iis are great, cheap, entry level devices. If every dollar counts, this great. The Samsung evo is an incredible mainstream device. If money is no object…the 850…or especially 950 pro is the top of the crop.
Unfortunately I don't have any experience with the more recent intel drives.
I'm just thinking if I should fork out $180 for the EVO 850 500GB, or $147 for this Ultra II 480GB… Hmm…
I personally don't like supporting Samsung lol…but the evo is a better drive and better value for an OS ssd; much higher 4k reads/writes for the evo, but still high enough for the ultra ii.
Which one you get depended on your value of money. If you can afford the evo without suffering too much, it's worth it.
…oh if this is just for storage, or even games…chances are the ultra will be plenty (I'm only using a bx200 for games! Too stingy to get a bigger evo myself =P)
I personally would shellout the extra 30 for peace of mind heh
I haven't pulled the trigger yet but basically, any SSD is on my radar. Most (average) users won't notice a difference in performance.
Mainly better value - happy to fork out a bit extra is worth it. In the grand scheme of thing, i'm looking for something on the Mid-High end.
Mainstream is the 850 evo. Mid-High end the 850 pro, and high you're looking at the 950 pro.
If you have the money, you can't go wrong with the samsungs.
Just bought OCZ Trion 150 for same price!
Brave man in my opinion!
Not really - 150 seems to be much better than the 100.
At least I hope!I think you are brave for choosing OCZ :)
Fairly sure they have picked up their game but out of all my old SSD's, the OCZ's are long gone.
@forkus: doesn't toshiba own them now?
I can't keep on the sidelines anymore! Which would be a better buy, this SSD or the Intel 540s 480GB?
