  • The problem with calling cards is that you have to pay flag fall regardless the call goes through or not.

And then every calling card claims to be the best value. Not sure if any cards have online call logs, it's very hard to keep track of the usage, you talk for 10 minutes, they deduct 20 minutes and you don't even know.

Also potential quality, reliability, and availability issues, when there's a problem the resellers don't want to know you.

I'm surprised that at this day and age people can still make a living by selling calling cards.

  • Yea, of coz. Just like me (ex International Student), I used a lot of phone cards before. I spent like 150-200$ just for phone card every month. So, that is still a good way to make money. I bet, at least 60-70% of students @ university are International student. So, that is a VERY HUGE MARKET there… : ) +

    • If you are spending $150 to $200 per month on phone cards, may be your should look at some cost effective alternatives, such as VoIP on your mobile.

Bargain Hunter be warned!!! Here are the catches:
    - There is a 6 cents daily fees (this equals to 42 cents a week without even using your card once used)
    - Although no connection fee, but there is a "disconnection fee" of 8 cents for calls over 5 mins
    - Credits expires in 1 month once used.
    - Advertised "minutes" (i.e. 1000 min to India) is never achievable considering the above 'hidden charges'. (btw ACCC is actually cracking down on advertised minutes as such!!)
