Dual Sim 4G Phones - Recommendation ?

Hey guys, I'm looking for a phone with dual sim 4G/4G capability.

Do these exist for budget consumers?

Or should I be looking at 3G/4G dual sim phones?

Was hoping to spend around 250 AUD (maybe my budget is too low?)

  • AFAIK they dont exist full stop.

My phone is 4G sim 1, and 2G sim 2

  • They are starting to exist with newer chipsets (Snapdragon 820)
Maybe the Moto G4 Plus dual but triple check any phone that claims to be 3g/4g dual

  • Newest is Oneplus 3

There are no 4G/4G dual sim phones, only 4G/3G, and one sim must be 4G for the other to be 3G. The 3G service is voice only, no data.

There are 2 chipsets that support this, Snapdragon 820, Snapdragon 617.

So I guess you'll be looking at some Snapdragon 617 phones with dual sim.
These are only coming out now, like the Moto G4 series, which I believe are not yet available locally.

So if you want it immediately, you'd be looking at Snapdragon 820 phones, the cheapest of which is around $420 and must be purchased from overseas.

    Right, there appears to be a lot of confusion on this topic. As someone who has bought many, many dual sim phones for personal/work purposes I have the following advice;

The vast majority of 'current' dual sim phones will be 4g/2g. I.e, 4g lte on one sim, and 2g on the second sim.

Only recently with the SD820 release, have we seen 4g/3g. I.e 4g lte one one sim, 3g on the other sim. The only phone that i could find readily available is the Xiaomi mi5. As an owner of this phone, i can confirm that i get 4g on one sim, and 3g on the other. You'll note that this is becoming increasingly important for any dual sim user as i understand there are plans to switch off the 2g network in the next 12 months. You'll also note most major city metro/tunnels don't support 2g which is another driver for my mi5 purchase.

A lowest spec mi5 will cost minimum $450-500 for the 32gb model (note no SD card support). However i can confirm they are excellent phones.

I understand there will be more 4g/3g phones in the coming months, however I am yet to see or hear anything regarding a 4g/4g device.

    • Excellent information! Do you mind letting me know where you bought your Mi5 from? And was the phone ready for use when you receive it? Or you had to reinstall/update its operating system to get rid of the malwares that normally come with grey stock phones?

      • Got the 64gb version for $600 off Gumtree. Geek buying and gearbest sell them, but I'd be looking at eglobal and dwi digital cameras for the same ish price and better service, warranty, delivery time

  • I'm waiting for the day for a $250 Xiaomi phone to appear with 4G SIM1 / 3G SIM2 capability..
