They are pretty good for $40. Please do not compare with warmth levels of Kathmandu and other outdoor gear brands as you will be paying $300 for it.
For $40 they are decent - I wouldn't buy at normal price though as you can get Kathmandu stuff for slightly more on sale
They are handy for travelling as you can keep them in your carry on with minimal bulk as they compress and pack well.
