Thieve.co - Price Hipster for AliExpress

Hello Guys,

After looking at rawm's post, he/she mentioned that they found it on a site called thieve.co

It's literally the Price Hipster of AliExpress curated by users

Let me know what you think about this?

Unlike Price Hipster this is built for referral clicks so it's disingenuous to real bargains.
I don't know what the purpose of it is. AliExpress already has a sale section and a popular items section.

it's not "literally price hipster". Price Hipster is a smart site which tracks and reports price changes.

thieve.co is just a "recommendations by users" site.

checked a couple of items. some of the recommendations on thieve.co can be found cheaper from other sellers on aliexpress.

I liked that it filters things based on aesthetics, and infuriatingly it listed a bag I bought a month or so ago for $25 cheaper than I paid!
Like Sage says, there is still some junk on there, as well as stuff that can be had cheaper elsewhere.

    Hey guys,

I run Thieve, cool to see it on OzBargain!

Thieve is user submitted and voted items from AliExpress. We also moderate what gets posted to make sure it's on style and do a bit of research on products before they get posted.
We try to post the most trustworthy option for a product, so we check the supplier rating, order volume and feedback comments before something gets posted.
So it's not always the cheapest, although that's important, but try and list the "best" option for a product.

Another challenge is the listings change on AliExpress all the time, so it's most up to date when an item gets posted.
Also we have a price history button on products, so once an item is added to Thieve you can see any price changes ;)

Love if you guys have any other feedback!

    Cheers,
    Tim

    • Have the people who are voting for these products actually purchased them, or are they just saying they look cool?

    • Hi Tim,

I've browsed the website and I love that it is very easy to use and easy on the eyes. Very clean design.

What is the revenue generating model exactly if this is purely user submitted recommendations?
