Finding an MP3 Player with a Specific Function

Hi everyone, I'm after a very specific MP3 player. I often listen to music while riding to uni (low volume, don't worry) and occasionally I want to take note of a song's name. Usually I just pull over and try and memorize the name. But here's the thing - is there any player that has a designated function for "starring" a song? Mine is a super old Creative player, but I love it because it's simple, robust and uses regular batteries.

      Yea, too bulky.

      Yes, even the Huawei Ascend Y550 plays FLAC files well. (Though that is omitted in the manual).

      Not using spotify - looking for a device with a built-in feature.

    I can recommend an Android app "Podcast Addict". You can give it a folder of your music and can star the songs.

      Not interested in a smartphone app though, just a simple MP3 player.

    My Fiio x3 does both favourite and add to playlist on the current song.

      Wow, that's way out of my budget. I guess the arrival of smartphones killed the traditional players. I would love to get me a SANSA, but they are becoming almost collectibles nowadays.

        I was sure the old iPod nano did this (the models with click wheels), it was something like click the middle of the whhel and it add to a playlist automatically (I think it was called On The Go - maybe it wasnt click the middle but it was something like that as I used to accidentally do it all the time.

        And that model is great for going to next track and adjusting volume, fast forwarding without having to look at a screen (touch screens are crap I think for a MP3 player)

        Have a look at the fiio X1 then. that's around $140, but the DAC quality is not as good. The operating system SHOULD be similar. Are you based in Sydney?
        The guy at minidisc is really helpful at Chatswood. I tried both X1 and X3 there before purchasing.
