WOW $1800. Cost similar to a used scooter.
And that's when it's discounted because the regen is about to break.
its also illegal to ride on any public property…
Also beware that police will confiscate them and put them on a dyno (in SA its at TAFE Regency), bike electric motors like to go bang quickly.
are you sure its at regency tafe and not regency vehicle inspection station? (not taht i know, just wondered if someone mixed those 2 places up)
but yea ive said it in past deals that they confiscate them and test them. i know a guy local to me who had this happen and ended up with lost car licence and some $2500 in fines
For push bikes in SA its at TAFE, they just take them in a trailer and mass do them.
You misspelled Polygon.
This looks like it's a $400 mountain bike (this one) and a $600 electric bike kit (like this one) with a $850 charge to install the kit.
It is exactly like that
can't believe they used to change $1,250 to 'install the kit'.
I believe you meant charge
@Bearosaurus: I believe you are right :)
@huybo: I believe you meant :(
@Bearosaurus: You didn't pickup on the "used" instead of use
Good try grammar cop!@ozy: your the real grammar cop.
@SBOB: Nice pickup on the "you're"
I get nailed for that all the time.@huybo: Classic!
@ozy: outfoxed the cop
I could use a cheap mountain bike. (Minus the electrics and the exorbitant installation cost) Are they any good? The reviews seem pretty good. :)

250w, still illegal to use in public
Is it, since when? The last time I've checked was okay.
you will want to check with your local RTA but most places there is a 200w limit. over that they are "your own private property only" and you risk not only any vehicle licence you have but thousands in fines
You're right. Just checked and they changed to 200W.

@PW:
You're right. Just checked and they changed to 200W.
The link you just quoted says a 250w pedal assist is LEGAL!
What bicycles are legal?
Legal bicycles from 1 October 2014 include:Regular bicycles with no engines attached
Complying 250 watt pedalecs
200 watt power assisted pedal bicycles that have an electric motorhttp://roadsafety.transport.nsw.gov.au/stayingsafe/bicyclist…

Utter rubbish, what risk to the drivers license is there (drivers license, not a car license or a vehicle license as you keep stating) and thousands in fines are a maximum and rarely if ever applied.
@Maverick-au: huh? It's classified as an unregistered vehicle if it's over the wattage threshold. Driving an unregistered vehicle results in demerit points and fines. Fines are fixed amounts. You can generally look up what the demerit points and fine value are through your local transport / main roads website.
Keep in mind that it depends how the cop is feeling, instead of just unregistered they could also go down the route of, unregistered, not road worthy, driving dangerously etc etc, could end up with a bunch of compounding fines plus a date with the courts.
@Trozza: dont pay too much mind to maveric, hes just pissy that ive proved him wrong so many times in the past he rabidly attacks any small point he can to try and claw back some semblance of relevance.
iirc the list of fines is not limited to
driving unreg (~$400)
driving uninsured (~$800)
driving without valid licence (because there is no licence class for these things) (~$1000)
breach of ADR (~$500)
there is probably more ive forgotten.extras they could add on
fail to indicate (because its a vehicle without indicators) (~$300)the one guy i know locally who actually got pinged got done by a reasonable cop. the cop actually told him that if he didnt stop they wouldnt chase him but because he stopped he was forced to confiscate the bike which ended up with fining him by summons. ended up with a driving disqualification and ~$2500 in fines.
but hey maveric, keep bein edgy as (profanity)….

You post false information about motor capacity that I prove was incorrect, I post the correct information and you claim that I'm wrong and downvote the posts as well. The proof is there for all to see, you're full of it and constantly post misleading incorrect information and claim to be an expert.

And how many people lose their drivers license and pay thousands in fines for riding an electric bike? Very few if any but by all means continue to spread your rubbish.
250w, still illegal to use in public
For someone so quick to quote legalities is it asking too much for you to actually understand the law? 250w pedal assist is LEGAL.
In South Australia, there are two categories of power assisted bicycles that may be used legally on our roads:
power assisted bicycles with up to 200 Watts of power (the power is controlled by a throttle or accelerator)
power assisted bicycles with no more than 250 Watts of continuous power which meet the definition of a pedalec (the power is controlled by the ride using the pedals).https://www.sa.gov.au/topics/transport-travel-and-motoring/c…
Incorrect. 250W is the limit but must be used in a peddle assist mode up to 25km/h and then the power cuts off OR 200W can be used without either of those limitations. It's a national rule now referenced by each state last time I looked.
Anyone have experience with this brand at all?
KEK
Can i just attach a nutri ninja motor to a normal bike instead, those motors give me more watts for like $150
Oh I wish it worked like that
You could try. Send pictures, and buy a long extension lead.
Instructions unclear, blended a bike
Bosch makes the best legal electric bike drive systems, and perform like 500-1000w in real use despite being rated 250w. they are not cheap but are arguably worth the price for a niche market.
I have a 1000w hub motor bicycle like the above, and having ridden a bosch performance drive I'd rather have the bosch.
I'm 7 metres tall 500 KG and 15 years old, is this bike good for me?
