Can anyone recommend an affordable sulfate/sulphate free shampoo/conditioner?

The only one that i have been able to fid is the Organic Care range which is available in only two version at Coles. All the other shampoos ive seen either cost way too much or have sulfate/sulphates in them.

L'oreal has a sulfate free range, sold everywhere

  • The Aldi Argan oil shampoo/conditioner is sulfate free. The amount of Argan oil in it is negligible so I wouldn't buy it for that but as a sulfate free shampoo it's pretty good! $4.99 a bottle

Thanks, unfortunately the closest Aldi requires a bus trip which bumps the cost up considerably…it's amazing how expensive bus trips are here.

My wife swears by the Moogoo range. Purchased on the net, probably on the expensive side but made from unicorn tears and elf horn.

    • The MooGoo range didnt agree with my scalp at all. Seemed to leave residue on it and hair felt quite dry.

    • Moo goo wasnt affordable last i checked.

  • So basically, nature's organics is the only affordable option here? Thats quite sad…

  • Organic Care, Aussie made, has no sles, sls, als, ales, etc. stocked at Coles, Woolworths and IGA, about $2.99 for 400 ml bottle of shampoo or conditioner, both normal or dry products. Even the bottle is recyclable.

    • Unfortunately, if I recall correctly it also has plenty of dimethicone though. That stuff coats the hair so it feels smooth. However, it will also coat your scalp and clog your follicles.

  • FowlParliament, thanks for that tip. We'll have to find a diy solution.

  • Try Dr Bronners?

Their products are pretty good and can be used for body or hair, ingredients list (taken from their website):

Water, Organic Coconut Oil*, Potassium Hydroxide**, Organic Palm Kernel Oil*, Organic Olive Oil*, Natural Sandalwood Jasmine Fragrance, Organic Hemp Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Citric Acid, Tocopherol
    *CERTIFIED FAIR TRADE INGREDIENTS
** None remains after saponifying oils into soap & glycerin.

    • Too expensive for op. He she's looking at <$4/100ml

  • Sukin do sulfate + paraben free shampoo…not sure of the price, I get it at Priceline when they do the 40 or 50% off haircare

    • It was 13.95 for 1 litre recently at Blooms so I think that's affordable for an organic shampoo…at least it's <$4/100ml, anyway.

  • Natural instinct is a lovely shampoo costing about $10 for 250ml.
