HOW THE TREATMENT WORKS:
The therapy uses multiple wavelengths of light to treat the affected area. Effectively, the structures of the condition causing the problem absorb the precise energy level and various wavelengths of light that are emitted from the technology. In turn, the light then travels to the structures of the skin causing the condition to occur which are then destroyed and become absorbed by the skin. Over time and with the right course of treatment, the condition becomes visibly reduced resulting in rejuvenated, collagen enhanced, and younger looking skin.

Prior to treatment, the client is diagnosed and asked a few questions with regard to their skin and its condition.

The client wears protective eyewear during treatment.

At the risk of sounding like a party pooper, this type of procedure is something you should research and preferably go to someone highly qualified. I'm not implying that the service provider isn't but this is your skin we are talking about. It's not just like a facial, it's full on and the fact that they are offering this usually very expensive service for just $79 sends off some alarm bells for me.

Here's a bit of a guide as to what to expect and be aware of:

I can appreciate the friendly warning because these days one can't be too careful as there are a lot of "shonkies" out there in practically every field. (Just look at the recent and continuing debacle about the Government's Insulation initiative.)

However, what I personally object to is that you seem to be of the opinion that because something is "a cheap bargain", it can't be any good and is probably harmful.

I'm sure you would think along the lines that if the product or service was advertised in a large city daily newspaper, extensively on radio and TV at a cost of many thousands of dollars, then it would be legitimate and wouldn't hurt anyone.

You know, it can still be 100% OK if it's marketed (as this is) in small doses and at HUGE discounts. Look at it this way ~ this type of advertising is inexpensive and if there is NO result it costs the business offering the service NOTHING! (Do the Newspapers/ Radio and TV Stations offer such a guarantee?)

Isn't that a truly valid reason for giving a BIG discount? What is more profitable for the business ~ spending many thousands of dollars in advertising with no guaranteed results and charging a HUGE price OR, using this type of promotion (A LOSS LEADER, if you like) and making friends of your customers by giving them value for money and getting return business for free at full price?

You know, Coles, Woolworths and Aldi's run Loss Leaders almost every day of the week and nobody accuses them of being dangerous to one's health because they are to cheap!

Once again, your motive in bringing this to our attention is great, however, don't condemn a product or service because you simply are of the opinion that it is too cheap. Have the faith that if a businessman spends the many thousands of dollars needed to equip his Salon, then it is quite possible that he/she will employ professionals to do the job and also ensure no stuff-ups.

  • I never said that this can't be any good or is harmful. In fact this procedure can yield great results, however people deserve to be informed especially when it's advertised in such a manner, with no dangers, side effects nor suitable candidates mentioned. It's not a facial or a massage. The people here on OzBargain love a bargain, but this is one bargain people should take a minute (or more!) to think about before clicking "buy".

When price is drastically slashed for such a service it's only natural to wonder why. What corners might be cut? Quality of the machines used or whether it might be conducted by a trainee etc. I agree, this is a growing industry with plenty of potential for abuse of consumers. At the hands of an inexperienced operator or done on someone unsuitable this procedure COULD be very harmful.

Personally I wouldn't buy this service advertised like this for myself or for a gift. I would research, ask questions, consult and get suitability assessed before letting anyone near my face with a laser. That's all. :)
