Budget Eyewear Will Replace Your Broken Specsavers Glasses for FREE

100

Mod — Specsavers has required offending comments in this post removed, and they are in the process of legal dispute with Luxottica (owner of Eudget Eyewear). Let's focus on just the bargain posted here without diverting to another brand.

Edit - Thanks moderator. Just wanted to let ozbargainers now about a great deal, shouldn't have focused on the merits of any companies. Won't do that again.

The Ad:

We are talking about your EYES here. One of the most important investments you make in your life is in your health and especially your eyes. Don't risk it with cheap options!!

  • Optical Superstore is much better than Specsavers and their lenses come from Zeiss who have been making optics since the 19th century. Read about their reputation here

    • Zeiss make a range of lenses from cheap to expensive. Hoya's what you want. I don't think I've ever been offered a cheap Hoya.

      • Fair point. I know I'd rather have a cheap Zeiss than a cheap 'Pentax' though :)

Handy tip- if you have optical insurance cover with HBA, Medibank and a few others, OPSM/Laubman and pank/ Budget eye wear (all the same company) will give 15 to 20% off your spec price. Your rebate will be on top of that.

I always go to my optometrist-owned practice - I get 20% off there too just like OPSM. The staff are all well-trained, qualified and get things right first time. I've had too many headaches from arguing with staff companies hire off the streets - does my head in. I think staff had to be qualified at one time but the liberals abolished the requirement.

  • budget eyewear is using lenses equivalent to opsm, so this is absolutely bargain. they use Essilor lenses, one of the best you could find on the market.

Pentax is just…no comments :P you get wot u pay for pretty much :D Must admit they have some really successful marketing strategy

    • Technically not same lenses. OPSM and Budget eyewear have their lenses tendered.

So you know. Budget eyewear, OPSM, laubman & pank are all owned by Luxottica, Specsavers stores are Franchised, The optical superstore are owned by this one rich accountant from Perth. It's great to see so much competition in the market. As an optometrist, the quality of products are all very similar. Most prodcts these days are all made in China. Even Apple will make you believe their product is designed in California BUT manufactured in China.

  • I went to Budget Eyewear to get my eyes tested for contacts - after 1hr he still wasn't finished - said I had to make another appointment, so I told him off and he finished it that day..soooo annoying

  • I have received a concerning email from Specsavers about the mis-information posted in this deal. Personally I do not wear glasses (yet), and am not familiar with different brands. There might be some investigation on matters discussed here, especially whether the discussion is fueled by corporate interests from competitors.
