Wood Fireplace Replacement Part? Buy Borrow or Steal?

Hello fellow shelbyvillians

My fireplace has a thing on the inside that is broken. I have researched and found this is called a liner, or refractory panel.
Its purpose is to concentrate the heat, and protect the metal sides from destructive rapid thermal expansion.

Where can I find a replacement? My original idea was to find out what fireproof cement they use to build wood fired oven, and cast that into a replacement panel, but it might be easier just to buy a block and cut it to size.

Thoughts?

Used to line bottom of pizza oven. You can get premix and dry. Go to burnings and ask for heat proof cement. If you line the top it's harder as may flake off, bottom no issues

  • Line the sides with firebrick mate. Thats what i did with mine.

  • refractory cement, or you can buy them ready-made from barbecues galore. From memory we paid around $9.
