Shipping Cost Increased in SportsDirect AU

I am trying to order some cloths from http://au.sportsdirect.com/ which costs around 400 AUD, but shipping cost comes as around 230 AUD. It is ridiculous :(
Is that true? Because I used to buy stuffs from this site from 2 years but I never had such experience before. Because previous times, I had options to select either I want standard or express delivery. Normally I used standard and it was only 20-30 AUD depending on the size. This time, site automatically goes to express delivery and shows that amount :(

Does anyone know the reason?

    I'm getting an option for cheaper shipping, which is still $9.98. Apparently they are using a company called Barlin.

    can't help with the shipping question except email/live chat them and ask why it is so high.

    change the web address to nz.sportsdirect.com

    same numerical amounts as the AU site but in NZ dollars. so you save a few % with differences in the currencies.

    I asked from SportDirect, and they confirmed that their courier, Barlin Ltd. have recently reviewed their terms for the shipping and, any orders over 2kg are not eligible for the standard delivery service. :(
    So now I understand that no point of buying more items which I usually did before. However, now we may not get any benefit :( :( :(

      I admit I only tested with one pair of shoes. Due to your findings I too am now losing interest in Sports Direct.

    You need to split the order up into smaller shipments, otherwise it becomes stupidly costly. As a guide, two hoodies and a puffer jacket fell into the $9 shipping, but adding another item pushed it over.

        It's a hack.

        You can get 3-5 items for 9.98 then it jumps to over $30.

        If you want to order 6-10 items best to see if will fit in 2 parcels at 9.98 each.

        Maybe Sports Direct subsidizes some cost on each parcel.
