(PRICE ERROR) Fallout 4 Digital Deluxe Edition FREE $0.00

940

Fallout 4 is now free on the Xbox store due to a price error. Don't know how long it will last so better get it now while it's free. This includes season pass and game.

LINK - https://store.xbox.com/en-US/Xbox-One/Bundle/Fallout-4-Digit…

EDIT - Try reloading or sign in again to buy the deluxe edition. That seems to work for me.

EDIT - Now expired. Congrats to anyone who got it and hope to god Microsoft don't revoke the licenses.

The more popular it is, the higher chance of the game license getting revoked. It's already been put on a heap of bargain/gaming websites, so i'm not expecting anyone to keep the copies they download.

    • I'm worried about that too.

      • Platform in title?

      • Hmm.. we'll have to see đŸ˜€

    • +3

Well, I'd already had it installed from the retail version. Just turned the Xbox on, it's downloaded all the DLC and I'm playing it without the disc….

Here's hoping they don't revoke it!!!

  • Worked for me. Now let's see if I get to keep it……

  • +3

"Uh oh… that shouldn't have happened.
It appears you've found a glitch in the system. Please try again later."

EDIT: Disabling adblock goes to enter a credit card option.

    • Refresh the page after signing in
Worked for me after doing so

  • +1

Worked on the australian store too. Can't download it until tonight, but it says I own it now

    • I'm downloading now.. hoping it doesn't get revoked.

  • Got it, thanks!

  • +4

Thanks! Now I can sell the disc :)

    Practically making money.

  • Thanks OP
    Worked for me

  • Just bought. Thanks OP. Hope it doesn't cancel later.

  • Thanks op

  • haha nice

  • Cheers OP!

  • Uh oh… that should not have happened.

It appears you have found a glitch in the system. Please try again later.

    • Refresh a few times. Still working.

  • doesnt work when you put in CC

  • +3

    Worked….I dont even own a XB1 LOL!!

    • Well even tho I completed the purchase its not showing in my purchase history so everyone doesnt need to feel bad about missing out because I dont think anyone is getting a free lunch here :-P

  • well with it now on gaming sites like kotaku it will no doubt get revoked now to all who "purchased" it.

  • I got the glitch in the system message the first time. However after that I refreshed, got through to enter in CC details and page now says I have purchased the title.
Has there been a history where a game has been priced incorrectly on the web site, and if you were able to nab it before it returned to normal price, did they remove it from your account?

  • it donst work they fixed it.

  • +1

    now unavailable
    so mark as expired

  • +1

    Can't buy this right now
Sorry, there's a problem getting this offer. Try again later.

  • Thnx. Will see how it goes

  • +1

    Not working now. :(

  • can't see the buy button?

  • damn, must've just missed out.

  • And it's over? … couldn't get the credit card part to complete anyway.

  • :(

  • same here, by the time, i logged on to xb, it's says "found a glitch" :(

  • Missed by a whisker. Damn it!

  • +2

Even though it is free it asked me for credit card but did not allow option for Australia under state/provence
So i put my real address in with California as my state and used postcode 90210 (thanks Mr Spelling) and it worked fine

    • Cause the link was to the US store, not the AU store.

      • +2

yes but no instructions were provided for us

        • +2

Sure, I'm just explaining why that was the case.
Obviously due to the short timeframe of the deal the OP didnt have time to post instructions.

      • My browser directed me to the AU store. Still says mine is purchased. If they remove it from my account, wonder how soon that'll happen.

  • its over

  • Will more than likely be removed from our accounts. It happened with the Season Pass on the Playstation Store as well :P

    • Most likely. But you never know. The GOT telltale games wa sold for $5 and they honoured it. Not quite the same I know.

      • Definitely no harm in purchasing it ;) bit of fun I suppose!

  • This is the US store though?

  • rip no longer avalible

  • dam. almost got it

  • Worked about 15 minutes ago on the AU store. Guessing it's been fixed now.

  • She's all fixed up. Damn

  • Just got it.

They will mass revoke any licenses attached to a 0.00 purchase anyway, but there is always a glimmer a hope!

    • Yeah, They've honored pricing errors in the past; fingers crossed.

  • I got it when it was active but not appearing in purchase history so they look to have removed it.

    • When I refresh the page, it still shows Already Purchased

      • Yeah I get the same on the page that I downloaded it from, but in my actual account history it doesn't show that purchase but shows all the other ones I've made.

    • Still coming up as "already purchased" for me, and when i go to 'My Games' in my profile on Xbox.com, it is there. Don't give up hope yet. lol

  • +1

I'm gonna just pull the internet on my Xbox for before they revoke my licence. Now if only I had a decent internet speed.

    • how you gonna download then?

  • Paid with paypal but it's not showing up there

  • People who go it may be able to keep it as it's happened in the past with 360 games:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/91829

Guess you won't know until you can download it and then is playable from your library.

  • -1

I missed out by about 5 min and my smartglass is telling me I can play it and not giving me an option to purchase :/?

    • They'd just revoke your license to play it. So the download would go through, but then you wouldn't actually be able to play it. At least I think that is how it works.

      Edit: Haha wow

  • Should be auto-installing on my Xbone at home.

  • With Halo 5, I initially got the disc version, but then I upgraded my Xbox to the Halo edition and got the digital code. The digitial code just seemed to license the physical disc version I had installed and it didn't need to download.

I bought Fallout 4 on launch day and it is already installed, so I'm hoping that getting this has just licensed that version so won't need to download the game and I'll just need to dl the DLC.

  • now showing up at $109.99 on XBOX Store

  • +1

    it's showing AUD180.45 now…..lol

    • o.O

    • +3

They need to make their money back some way.

    • +4

This is why going completely digital on console is impossible.

  • oh what!!.. missed out by a long shot

  • So anyone actually played it or is everyone at work

    • +2

Being in Australia, I doubt anyone could have downloaded it yet. Only way to have played it would be if you have a disc copy installed.

      • -1

Can u only dl at a certain time?

        • +4

Can download whenever, but I think he was referencing the terrible internet speeds the vast majority of the population gets.

        • +2

I'm talking about download speeds. You'd need at least a 40Mb/s connection to have downloaded the game since it was first posted, and that's assuming it downloads at full speed.

        • @theguyrules: oh. I have fast speeds. Should be able to dl that pretty quick. Plus it usually let's u play around the 30%mark anyway

        • @tchi6: Lucky. Let us know then.

        • @theguyrules: I will when I get home

        • @tchi6: Mine is only at 40% but i've been able to open the game and get the installing screen with the video while you wait for it to finish, so they haven't revoked the licence yet

      • You underestimate 100/40 NBN

  • Hypothetical: Just say 1000 people downloaded (probably more once you factor in reddit/whirpool/obargain/numerous websites mentioning it) this and it was $100, that's $100,000 right there. No way they'd let people keep the license. There's always hope, but that's a lot of money (even if we do get stooged with game prices) to just write off

    • +5

Well, it's not like they actually lost 1000 purchases. That would only be true if ALL of those people who downloaded it free were definitely going to buy it at full price sometime soon.

I'm guessing there's far fewer… somewhere between zero and 50 lost purchases is a pretty safe guess, I'd say.

There might be much higher number who were going to buy it IF it went on sale for cheap enough at some point in the future, but, that's much lower total revenue too.

      • I should have said they have lost $100,000 in potential revenue as not everyone who got it, would have necessarily gotten it had they had to pay for it.

    • ive scored several like that on steam, best was when far cry 3 came out i got it for around $7 rather than the "at the time" price of ~$70 iirc, was never revoked. several others have on other steam games, no idea how this translates to xbox tho.

  • -1

Knowing Microsoft, this could end badly lol

  • +3

Had Fallout 4 already, DLC installing and playable :)

    Thanks!

  • Licenses will be revoked. So enjoy it while you can (if you've downloaded all 30+gigs already) http://www.neowin.net/news/fallout-4-was-accidentally-free-t…

    • +6

Best thing to do would if you managed to actually download it for free and want to play it for a while would be to disconnect your xbox one from the internet once the download is complete.

Keep in mind that you would only be able to play offline games and when you go back online fallout 4 will stop working.

    • -4

Sucks. Like someone said on reddit, if we bought something from a store at the wrong price they couldn't come to our house and take it off us later on.

      • +3

You bought a license. Which can be revoked at any time.
Considering you paid $0, I think its fair. Maybe if some money was spent it would be different

        • Yeah that's the catch with digital downloads.

        • I think the same. If it was a genuine pricing error and discounted to even a few cents - as an example. The chances of keeping it would've much better.

I remain optimistic for people who got it but I think it will really now come down to how Microsoft want to deal with it and how long it will take for them rectify it, if they decide to pursue those who got it free.

    • +5

I don't get it why the author of that article contacted xbox support, to tell them that there is a pricing error? or to whinge that they didn't get free copy?
