Android Phone Recommendation for my wife

Hi All,

My wife wants to find an Android phone to replace her Samsung Note 3. I am not up to date with the mobile market and thus would like to seek advice from the OzBargainers. Below are her criteria:

  • Large Screen;
  • Nice Camera; and
  • Replacable Battery.

I think she uses it mainly for messaging, watch movie clips, facebook and browsing in forums. Any suggestion?

Nexus 6P (doesn't have an easily replaceble battery, but doesn't sound like your wife owns them for long enough for that to be a problem anyway) or keep the Note 3..

Redmi Note is cheap and cheerful.
Once ppl start using xiaomi, nobody will consider Samsung anymore.

Note 3 is still a competitive unit. Is there another reason for wanting something else? Broken, scratched, 'must have new', etc?

    • She just found it slow and not responsive…

Backup, rebuild and re-install apps? Maybe even it is just 1 app which is a resource hog, or clearing disk space will return performance.

Man, this is sounding more and more like Windows troubleshooting.

Edit. I note that you say phone, but the Note 3 is more a phablet. What minimum screen size is desired?

      • yep, try factory reset - yes you will need to reinstall apps and save down personal content prior to doing so (but would need to do same on new phone anyway)

I run a Note 3 and can't fault it… plenty of apps installed too.

Agree. Note 3 user too here. Can't find reason to upgrade… Fhd screen, big, 3gb ram.. 32gb storage..

Just wish the camera quality is better and it has wide selfie feature.. Very important!

I still have one of these. It's great and still snappy. Haven't really noticed a big jump in performance in comparison to the moto x style. Only thing that could of made it better is I think if it supported quick charge 2 and another wide angle camera like the g5

    Nexus Something

ZTE make some good affordable smartphones, I have 2 with no problems, Officeworks have them along with Goodguys, JB and I think Allphones. They replaced a 18month Sony Experior which I was peeved to have expire considering the initial cost!,

And You may have look at Motorola mobiles which are announcing in 4 hours.

Without the replaceable Battery, you will get a lot more option. Only LG and Microsoft are making phone with replaceable battery those day.

    PS: Dont buy LG G4
