    Nice

  • Nice?

  • +7

    Is this even a deal?

    • +1

Yes, PCCG, PLE, CPL et etc, are asking 1,199 and none are in stock.

  • +6

Wow $1399 on the store. People bag out kogan for jacking up prices, this is as blatant as it gets.

    • +1

Yeah it is high, they blatantly jack up the price because of the 20% off, but if you was going to buy anyway 80$ off is still good and they are in-stock….

      • -1

So its ok if its a GPU but not everything on another sellers store?

        • -1

Did i say that? No. You miss the point, go back and read.

  • +13

No plus vote for price jacking it's trashy behavior and should not be supported like this on ozbargain.

    • +2

Fair enough mate, i don't support it, but as i mentioned in an earlier comment if you was going to buy 80$ off is still a bargain.

      • +5

if i was going to buy right now id buy off newegg for $1019 aud delivered.

        • +3

          Or ~$832 for non founders..

Or under $590 and postage for 1070s

        • +2

@Lukian: im actuly going to get a 1070 myself after i see what amd has to offer for it's 490/490x

          no rush though i have a r9 390 atm :)

        • @Lukian: Are there any confirmed 1070 prices/links? So close to buying a 970 but trying to just wait for 1070 to see what my options are

        • @Lukian: Are they in stock?

        • @Lukian: Will 1070s be that cheap?

        • +1

Enjoy the GST added to that…

        • +1

@Spackbace: It won't be if the price of the card alone is under $1000AU, so even though the shipping puts it over $1000, GST won't be payable. If the price was over $1000 on the card alone, then GST would apply to the entire total (card + shipping).
This is to do with people bringing goods into the country by plane/ship (who obviously don't have to pay shipping) having an advantage over people who order online. It was to keep the system fair for everyone AFAIK.

Can't find the link on the Custom's site as they seemed to have updated it so the old links are dead, don't think this has changed.

        • @Porthos:

All discussions I've read recently point to that being a grey area, in some cases shipping has been factored in, in other cases it hasn't/shouldn't. I certainly wouldn't be recommending to get something imported in that was close to $1k delivered.

        • +1

          @Spackbace:

It's not meant to be though, that's the thing. I can't find the calculator any more, there use to be one on the Custom's site which clearly showed what I had said before. If people did get caught out by it, it was obviously a screw up by Customs (which isn't surprising).

        • +1

          @nytrojen: @Porthos: @noodlesfordaddy:
Yes (if importing). $440 USD and that's only one card AND it's the founder's edition.

    • Is there not a consumer law against retailers jacking up prices prior to a "sale" or "promotional offer" as this is very misleading to those that don't do their research, and arguably fraudulent behaviour (unethical at a minimum)?

      • The only one who can impose a law against it is ebay. And so far it doesn't look like they have.

  • +4

    That price history tho

    • Where do you find price history?

      • At the top where it says "8 available / 84 sold" click the 84 sold. They've used an old listing.

  • +4

$900~ from amazon us and no gst on import.

  • +4

Patiently waiting for an aftermarket 1080 from the states for ~$900. It's hard to compete when there are shitloads of yanks just sitting at their computers hitting F5 all day.

  • +4

$1399 for the listed price..GO F*** yourself greedy seller.

    • Yes. Like the skull canyons - $1099.00 in their eBay store, the usual places like mwave and pccg have it for $999 and shipping express have it for $939.00.

  • Futu Online on EBAY is Shopping Express outside of EBAY.

What about shallothead on EBAY - who is behind that?

  • +1

They were selling the GTX1080 Gigabyte G1 Gaming for $1,139.00 at PLE Computers with a custom cooler until they were sold out.

    • That's right. I didn't go for this because even with the 1.25% cashback it was too much. If I had an additional 10% coupon I would've went for it.

For those who feel left out, know that they only had 2 in stock and buying it from the US (once they have stock) will save you $200+ instead of a measly $15.

    • TBH they were only having two piece and they were sold within couple hours.

  • +4

This price jacking really pisses me off.

I was hoping to pickup the 6600k on sale at futu. With the price jacking to $399 - 'sale' means I only save $14 from bricks and mortar store. Won't bother.

They have clearly increased by 15% to reduce it by 20%

    My 2 yen.

    • +1

I agree, I really want to buy from them but the saving is only 5%. I had my eyes on a monitor, was $599 a few weeks ago and I put it on my watch list. The 20% starts and the monitor goes out of stock and returns @ $649. No sale.

  • if you guys interested.. in msy website they have 1080 G1 Gaming from gigabyte for $1139. with better performance and cooling.

    • +1

I posted a deal earlier for the G1 for around ~AU $900 delivered from Newegg. Sadly it only lasted 2 minutes before the 100 or so units of stock sold out. Might be a good idea to wait for future US deals, though it might be a while before stock will last more than 2 minutes.

  • This is a lot more expensive than the 900 series. I hope the 1100 series isn't even more expensive than that.

  • make the price $1080 and i'll purchase

  • Genuine question; im thinking to buy two for SLI setup, should i buy reference model or wait for after market one? Normally after market cards are very big and leave very tight space between two cards for cooling :\

    • +1

for SLI it's way better to do water cooling of those bad boys. otherwise reference card uses blower style (pump air to the back) and after market cooler usually uses heatpipe system. but based on the youtube benchmark, 1070 & 1080 do run cool (80+ on load with boost up to 1900mhz) so should be fine if you want to SLI them.

      • Every card I've owned with the blower style produces more noise under load than the heatpipe system. I'm not risking it with a design like this again. I might be wrong, but I'm still not taking that chance.
