Fujitsu Aircond Cash Back Issues

They sent me an email today to deny my claim for a $150 visa gift card because they claim it was not installed in a residential / domestic place. I live in a 2br unit. My guess is they googled my address and found my husband's business listing on the whitepages. It's a bit of a startup, and hasn't really taken off yet, but if you look at other google results, there are historical listings of the apartment unit when it was for sale with pictures etc. How do they define a unit as non domestic / residential? Can they do that?

For what it's worth, it's installed in the living room, and he does computing at the desk in our bedroom. It's not an office.

If you google Fujitsu cash back review, there are multiple warnings about how Fujitsu tries to get out of honouring the cash back.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

  • Their word against yours. Is this what they said in their email? It could be just a misunderstanding, best to call them.
besides there are lots of residential homes with small businesses running out of them. It is still domestic.

    • They don't provide a phone number, only a fax number. I replied to their email with a picture, and it's not a totally conclusive photo, but you can see our very messy cork board with zoo lanyards, kids art and postcards etc in it. If/when I get a response, I intend to send more info. I was just so infuriated by their scumminess.

Edit: they said non domestic / residential, therefore it's an invalid claim.

  • bikies

    • Might cost more than $150.

      • take a short film of the room - not a totally conclusive photo - to show them

get on their social media/facebook page and nicely ask why they denied your cash back for installation into a domestic residence as per the cash back promotion. and add that it shakes your confidence in Fujitsu as a company.

        • They don't seem to be on Facebook. Not air conditioning anyway.

        • this might actually do it. companies dont like bad publicity.

        • @bluedufflecoat: call them 1300 882 201

        • @altomic: I plan to do that… But do you think I should wait for a reply (there is a high chance that they will take their time)…

Actually, there was a phone no, for the people they outsourced it to. I couldn't see it before on my phone…

We have now received your claim form and tax invoice but have identified that the units are installed in a commercial premises.
As per our terms and conditions, this promotion is available for domestic/residential use only.
Unfortunately your claim has been declined.
          Kind Regards,

  • Seems odd, I received a Gift Card…

When you submitted the Receipt for the AirCond was the account reciept in your name or the business name?

    • Husband's name because he was taking delivery. At no point was the business name mentioned.

  • Give Tubby Taylor a call

I had to google that. :) thanks for the laugh.

  • I don't recall them ever asking where it was installed? In fact I did my claim before it was installed. Who is to say you didn't purchase it and install it in your grandma's house?

I'd ring them and be calm and firm. Sounds like a misunderstanding.

  • Was it installed by an Electrician? Try to get their help if you have one.
Or it could be a simple case or wrongly entered an incorrect serial number. Sometimes the "error" code may not tell the truth.

  • I am so confused…

Apparently because I had in my claim my work address (for delivery of the gift card, because I can't guarantee that someone would be home to receive it), they assumed that it was commercial. They didn't contact me, or ask any questions, just outright said it was invalid. :/

Anyway, it looks like they are processing it now, but until I get the gift card in my hand, I won't consider it resolved yet… It still needs to be approved by Fujitsu.

Thanks for all your input guys and girls.

Yeah, people need to realize that "cashbacks" aren't a guaranteed discount, they're more like a competition where the odds are 98/100 that you'll win. Its in the companies interest to make it difficult.

Here's hoping you don't run into any more difficulties fingers crossed

  • Update: I got my giftcard in the mail today!

  • I just had $450 worth of claims for three units rejected. Searching Google, we aren't alone and a lot of people seem to just give up and never buy Fujitsu again.

I called their 1300 number and they told me that the software on the Fujitsu web site had cropped my screen capture of internet banking showing that I'd paid by direct deposit, so that they couldn't verify the amounts. They also said that the internet banking screen capture or bank statement must clearly show your name and ideally address. Unfortunately, ING only does statements every 3 months and documents lodged after end Sept won't be accepted. Also, ING internet banking doesn't show my name on the transaction search screen so isn't sufficient, so I'm going to 'fix' that problem in Photoshop and resubmit.

Still, I shouldn't have to go the trouble of faking an internet banking screen just to claim a cashback as heavily promoted as this, especially when I've checked and double checked that I've complied with their rules every step of the way. It doesn't leave me with a good impression of Fujitsu. I will report back on how my resubmission goes.

    • who did you buy your air-conditioner from? can you get a receipt from them?

These cashback deals are very sneaky. My husband gets very annoyed with me for falling for their campaigns and then having to jump through hoops to get the cash back.

I hope you get your cashback.

  • I submitted my claim in mid July and received no word ever since, website claim status still shows 'pending' with no indication of whether the claim had been processed. Anyone else with the same problem?
