Kingston Class 10 microSD (and Android)

Hey guys. I just bought a HTC Desire from the UK. And I might wanna root my phone and throw on Cyanogemod. Might. Or I might just use HTC with the Sense UI.

I want to purchase a Kingston Class 10 microSD card from OTA

I've checked with the store and it's indeed genuine. Saw very favourable reviews for this card as well.

The price is okay with me but I wanted some opinions on whether this will offer any benefit or should I just get a Class 6 card? Any input would be appreciated. I realise that stock Android might not be able to take advantage of the speed rating, but with Cyanogenmod and App2SD, I'm wondering will this have obvious speed benefits over a Class 6 for the Desire? Thanks guys.

  • I read a wiki the other day (sorry I can't find the link - I believe I got to it via XDA forums) that was testing various microSD cards on the Nexus One. The general consensus was that you don't get any benefit from a faster card, the device itself has a bottleneck slower than most cards. Seeing as how the Desire is basically a badge-engineered Nexus, you will probably be in the same boat.

I'm using a C2 Sandisk 16GB in my N1, though I haven't rooted it. h264 video works fine from it.
