VIP Fussy Cat Grain Free Cat Food 500g $2.50 @ Coles

150

Cheapest it has been in recent history, $4 being previously the cheapest. Time to stock up as this price may never be repeated.

My cat seems to like this product and actually cleans his bowl compared to the other brands where he leave most of it behind.

Seems to get pretty glowing reviews on Product Review

3 Varieties available

Chicken & Turkey with Cranberry

  • Our cats love this too.

Has anyone had any success with not using kibble at all? I do believe it is better to not use any but it is not easy especially seeing as cats can be so fussy.

Its the grain based kibble thats an issue, most are grain based. This SHOULD be OK if its not lies that its grain free. Tinned food is also bad. We stick to this, fresh meats, and the odd tin of tuna in spring water.

I think this guy does some Testing on the food…

  • Fantastic price for a good cat food. Recently made the switch over the past couple of weeks on to it. It's definetely the best supermarket cat food. The ingredients are amazing (First five are indicative of the quality):

Poultry Meal and Meat Meal, Poultry Tallow, Real Chicken Meat,

    • Applaws is the best supermarket food, but VIP is close behind, and still far ahead of all the other stuff.

      • Can't say I've even seen Applaws dry mix in any supermarket in my area. The dry food listed on the Petstock website also lists two starch-heavy carbs in the top 5 ingredients (Pea Starch, Tapioca Starch) so I wouldn't rate it as highly.

        • They have Grain Free options, that is what I have seen at Woolworths and Coles. Reviewed here - http://www.petfoodreviews.com.au/dry-cat-food/applaws-its-al…

Pea starch is a gluten-free, low GI source of fibre and prolonged energy as well as a hypo-allergenic protein source. We often find some kind of starch in pet foods as it works as a binder to hold the kibble together. Tapioca starch is found next, which if processed correctly is gluten and lectin free. It’s an ingredient of mixed opinion.

        • @snuke:

It's pretty good stuff but with a lower protein count, it means you need to serve more of it otherwise you get a cat that won't shut up because it's still hungry =P

Still, if I see it in the shops, I'll give it a go. Cheers for letting me know about it =)

This is currently $1.00 at Target - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/250470

    • Hmmm.. Will have to shoot down and try some random scanning

I got all of them from one store, and all the dog food too. I will go hunting for more this weekend.
No, I am not doing a Broden, I am giving them to local animal shelter.

        • If you live in NSW, Target castle hill still has dog food and cat treats in stock, Target Rouse hill has none left.

        • +1

I would normally neg for a brodening. +1 for selfless act!

        • @tidie:

Thanks for the heads up, Rouse Hill is where I was going to go, I cleaned out the lovely Mt Druitt (dry food only), I was knifed while there, which is to be expected.

    • Tried finding this at 2 stores without any luck. Ended up spending $87 on the other clearance items.

      • Yeah, even without the food, still lots of cheap stuff to grab.
