    Uhhh size may help.

  • Not a bad price given I paid $110 for a 250gb about 4 months ago

  • Jesus they are dropping the prices for SSD.

Still waiting on my Amazon France one.

    • +2

Me too. Although this is the Plus, the 2 (I'm assuming you go the same one as me) is better, apparently.

I need to stop looking at these SSD deals.

        Delivered today!
Yeah, I got the Ultra 2. Should be sweet.

        • +1

          Yeah, mine came yesterday afternoon.

  • Is it worth buying 4tb 3.5" internal drive from overseas?

    • +3

only if they wrap it in a ball of bubble wrap the size of a small car

      • I have had good experience with Amazon so far, they always pack really well.

        • +1

im wary of expensive electronics shipped from OS.

out of the dozens of people involved in shipping who will handle your bundle of joy, it only takes one Ace Ventura to make for a sorry experience of international refunds and warranties

same goes for fine china and live animals

          @Forrest Gump:

Of course everyone would rather local stock, but once again Amazon is a different case. If your item arrives DOA, they'll accept your return request no questions asked, mail you the replacement via express shipping which takes around 3 days to arrive, and fully cover return postage costs. Their return process is better than most local sellers, I don't think you'll find anyone locally who'll deliver a replacement to you in a few days.

@lyl: yeh I know amazon r good, I buy heaps of them. just wary of buying a mechanical drive as they r pretty delicate

just like fine china and live animals :)

  • Why was big w deal unpublished?

    • +1

why did you choose an SSD deal from an international supplier to ask that question?

fyi, its coz its a few weeks away and ppl will hold off buying from them at current prices so woollies gestapo would have requested removal from public view

      • Thanks for link. I didn't know that ozbargain has a section for unpublished links.

  • I'm a noob, but can I install that 4tb HDD to a newly built i5 H70pro gaming motherboard?

    • +1

Yup u can install the 4td sshd hdd to the h70pro mobo. Just connect it via sata connections n have the psu that powers the h70pro to power the 4tb sshd

Hmm, shame it isn't the Ultra, or I'd finally have pulled the trigger on one of these SSD sales.

Back to my seat in the waiting room…

For everyone's interest, that seagate drive is probably the most unstable series by Seagate ever.
All of their other drives are fantastic but the SSHD they made is just rubbish.

If you want proof you can look at any review or sales site, it has a near 50% rating on Newegg.
    Basically it's unreliable

You get excellent speeds for about a year, slowing down gradually as you put more stuff on it (my theory is that the read/write buffer on the ssd cache increases with each file) and then it fails on you. For a drive that is purely a storage drive this level of instability is unacceptable.

I would recommend the poster check out the items before he/she posts deals.
Companies clearing crap stock lines because they're crap and can't sell aren't bargains, because they're worthless due to their history and quality.

I will however be taking one of those ssd's though for a new portable drive i will make for lan's.

4.3/5 from 1787 reviews on Amazon, but you think your 1 opinion matters? Go back to PCCG.

  • Can anyone recommend an idiot proof software / app that will allow me to mirror my current (full) 250gb drive onto a new 480gb SSD?

    • do a ubuntu live boot and follow instructions

Thanks for the reply, but I'm not big on terms like "If we do sudo fdisk –l again, we can see that, despite not formatting /dev/sdc at all, it now has the same partitions as /dev/sda."

    • Macrium Reflect v6 Free Edition is pretty good I've been told. Highly recommended in reviews online.

I use Clonezilla, Altiris, Acronis & Samsung Migration software (which worked really well for Intel to Samsung SSD clone).

  • Sandisk SSD Plus 480GB shows USD 93.79 for me. Does anyone getting the same value or something am I missing?

    • 99.17 is the value after the delivery costs are added

  • i know this may sound crazy but i haven't purchased from amazon before, do i need to use a shipping address forwarder or can i just straight up purchase and enter my normal address?

    • Just normal address, they ship here
People use forwarders for items that they don't post internationally (eg. Amazon fire TV)

    • When sticking to Amazon as a seller or fulfilled by Amazon you can get most items shipped here at good prices. Most private sellers on Amazon don't ship internationally or the postage is generally too dear

Thanks for the heads up, looks like Sandisk Micro SD cards are also on special. Just picked up the 200GB Micro SD card for $94AUD shipped! Awesome!
