It looks like Mektek has released Mechwarrior 4 for free download. If you like the idea of piloting big, heavily-armed robots around and blowing things up, this game is for you. Mektek is about to release the latest episode in this series, hence the promotion.

Just so people know, this release was so popular that it crashed their site, and without the site up, their installer won't work - so give it a couple of days to calm down and then try, because at the moment you cannot install this successfully.

It's worth noting that the file included in the installer is a .torrent. You can download the 1.7gig archive using that torrent without having to visit the Mektek site.
True, but without the site you cannot install the game - installing and uninstalling take place within the mektek program.
