Gearbest - USB Endoscope waste of money and time

I recently bought a USB 10m waterproof Endoscope online through Gearbest. The shipping took much longer than anticipated and when I got the product, after a lengthy installation fiasco, it failed within 20 minutes. I have emailed Gearbest 2 x with all information they needed and to date still no reply. Latest attempt, they replied with a link that I am supposed to log onto and 'Take a Number' for service. The link is dead.

Over all, a very poor effort and I'd suggest to use another online company.

It's not worth my while to chase them over a low dollar item but they profess to offer amazing service on their website as in htis is what they state:
"Exceptional customer service -We take your satisfaction seriously. We provide a professional, dedicated service for every single customer regardless of order size. Our Support Center replies to your support tickets quickly, while our class-leading Live Chat and 24 hour telephone services offer real-time support whenever you need it."

What a load of BS.

    Welcome!

I recently bought a product from Gearbeast.

Well there's your problem right there, mate. Sorry to hear about it, but they have received consistent notorious feedback both on OzBargain and Whirlpool communities. A search on either of these communities will reveal you have joined a well established club of unsatisfied customers. I'm not going to shame you for not doing your research, but I guess this serves as a valuable lesson to check out customer feedback before you throw money at these plonkers.

  • Complain to PayPal or your credit card company after giving them a week to reply.

Title is misleading, it has nothing to do with the product, just purely the store. Which, if you'd looked here before joining and ranting, you'd have found is banned due to these sort of issues!

  • Well I never even got my dash cam from everbuying.net :(

As far as I'm aware it's sitting in sydney somewhere.

  • Yea, unfortunately, lack of quality control for unknown branded Chinese made products has been stopping me from getting everything from China directly. Sometimes, it baffles me why anyone would bother putting effort into making a product that barely works. If you do buy unbranded chinese products, don't expect them to last more than twice. If they do last more than twice, then thank your lucky stars.

    • You take a risk every time you buy one of these products, and chances are 2-3 out of every 10 items would never arrive, are faulty or not fit for purpose. However for many it's worth it because they're so cheap, the monetary loss is minimal. They know they'll be ahead financially compared to buying all 10 items from local shops, with local warranty.

Here's an example: I needed a FM transmitter because my car's radio is integral to the air conditioning controls, but instead of splashing out $40+ for some name brand unit (e.g. Belkin) I decided to go for the $4 one from China. The $4 FM Transmitter does the job well, but it fails at around 6-9 months. I'm currently on my 3rd FM transmitter, and I'll keep buying them because until I'm forced to buy my 10th unit, I'm still better off financially than buying a name brand unit. As long as the statistics hold out I'll have a new car way before then.

Also many of these items on sale at sites like Gearbest and Banggood can often be found on Amazon as well, and they have lots of reviews. And if you buy from Ebay, Paypal has a very good refund policy.

      • I guess you have been lucky. I bought things that doesn't even work. Screw drivers that doesn't screw(as in when you turn, it strips the screwdriver head, usually it is the other way round, lol). Electronic transmitters that have a range of 10cm???? Plastic tools that break if you put any force on it, which made it pointless. Electronics that sometimes work. That being said, I have had successes though. The motion sensor I bought only cost me $5, but it is still working reliably after one year. Hopefully I am not jinxing it now.

    Hi Scambuster123,
We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have been caused.
Could you please PM me your order number? We will check and solve it for you.
Thanks for your understanding. We look forward to hearing from you.

  • I had never heard of Gearbest before so I did a search for them on Ozbargain. The resulting page says: "This store is currently BANNED on OzBargain.
Reason: Continual Issues with orders not being sent/received Expiry: permanent".

I think I will avoid them, even if their store rep does reply here asking for your order number. Not worth the trouble.

I joined up to complain about a dodgy colonoscopy that some dude named Scambuster123 gave me with a faulty endoscope…

  • Seriously found going through Aliexpress and Ebay cuts out so much of this kind of hassel. Pity as would prefer to support smaller diverse businesses.

  • was just about to buy something from gearbest. so is dx.com any better? This item is only available from either at the mo (and dx is a bit more expensive). edit: just found it on geekbuying too.
